Growing Older As Me: Cat Burton | My Genderation

Today we are launching our #GrowingOlderAsMe campaign, starting with a film about Catherine Burton, a trans woman and a pilot. We created a series of films for the Trans Ageing and Care Project, that focuses on the needs of older trans people. We encourage all trans people of all ages to share their hopes, fears and thoughts about growing older as trans under the hashtag #GrowingOlderAsMe on social media.
English and Welsh subtitles available.
My Genderation is an ongoing film project focusing on trans lives and trans experiences. All our content is created by trans people, about trans people, for a much wider audience. Currently run by Fox Fisher and Owl Fisher.

What a beautiful lady ❤️ her smile is blinding ❤️ I had never thought about the complexities of trans elderly people going into the care system. Seems like more training is needed all round so that trans people can get the care they need throughout their lives.

Cat’s lovely 😊 She was the captain on my flight to Las Vegas the morning after the BA jet had a fire on the runway at Las Vegas. I ran up to her drunk in a casino to say thanks for getting us their safely 🤦🏼‍♀️ Cat’s smile is beautiful and she brings up a good point about ageing transgender people.

I discovered with my wife I was transgender aged 54 I'm now 60 and we are both very happy It's wonderful to hear that more and more are transitioning through their jobs and recognized and fully accepted I'm also very grateful that my wife and I are still together and I can honestly say we're so much happier than before Thank you for your video Best wishes 🥰

Cat makes some very good points, gp's as a whole need to be on the same page, the journey needs streamlining, in my area one gp who even supports those transguys with bridging prescriptions has actively stopped treating those who change from sustanon to nebido, I dont know why this might be, essentially they are suddenly stopping medication with no explanation. Like cat I was referred to a local mental health specialist despite me telling my gp he could directly refer to a gic..changes need to be made

Just had a meeting with Sheffield Porterbrook GIC & Rotherham CCG about GP issues, there are A LOT more issues than you realise. Working on getting GPs to prescribe, especially as in Doncaster there are no GPs who are willing to prescribe & it's a huge issue. All boils down to technically it being optional rather than mandatory so GPs don't want the responsibility & make up ridiculous excuses.

Transgender care homes ??? Facial hair ?? All post menopausal woman have facial hair .all elderly people deserve to have their dignity observed … you are accepted for the person you have always wanted to be but yet again its not enough
