Since you have so many you might try planting 3 or 5 together as a group, say about 1 to 2 feet apart. This gives a different effect than the look of a single trunk by itself. ~ Your red banana isn't wasting any time pumping out some new growth.

You could also soak the plants to remove the dirt and help separate the roots with less damage

I met the same problem about roots with date palm trees made by myself from seeds grown in basque country, SW France... the date palm trees (phoenix dactylifera and phoenix canariensis) are very easy to grow from seed. They grow easily in Southern France near the Atlantic Ocean and can fruit bécasse the winter is not really cold. In Bayonne, SW of France, canary Island date palm fruits fall from the trees and the seeds germinate on the floor, in my garden I have many baby date palm trees because of that and winter is not cold enough to kill these tens of baby palm impossible to remove from the areas dedicated to other flowers. Date palm trees are very very strong. If the climate is quite warm, it grows like weeds, it's wild and out of control. Date palm tree is a real wild grass and freezing nights with -5°C (or about 20 F) is not cold enough to kill the date palm tree. When I was younger I put seeds in a bucket of dirt and water and after few months I got many baby date palm trees impossible to separate. Date palm tree is just out of control.

Raymonde JeanBaptiste order them. And these Palm can grow from Ohio to Alabama. So yes. But keep the fronds moist though. Palms love their leaves wet.
@keijuhl
@keijuhl 7 жыл бұрын
Raymonde JeanBaptiste if you're talking about the US state of GA, yes they grow all over the state from zones 7b south. They're the most commonly spotted Palm around the Atlanta area. Lowe's and Home Depot usually get a bunch of these every year in blue pots along with Needle Palms and Sabal Minor palms.
