Hey y'all! Just curious... Do you ever design stuff directly in After Effects? Or am I the only weirdo here;-)

It does seem to be a good thing to learn to do to save time. Love the music in this btw.

i have only really been able to navigate After Effects as a result of my extensive use of Illustrator over the years. Using those tools where I find them is a real time-saver...

wondering why you do this with a mask and not a shape layer? Shape layer trim path does exact same thing
@ManueldoesMotion Жыл бұрын
Yes that works as well.

How do you get the mask shape to grow from the bottom end rather than the center of the mask?
@ManueldoesMotion4 жыл бұрын
Hi! You could reveal the stem with another mask you add to the layer (subtract it) and reveal the stem with it by animating the mask shape.

@@ManueldoesMotion I don't understand, it don't change the fact that the mask grow at the bottom
@dennisobrien61433 жыл бұрын
@@colowinthekav when you create the mask, make sure the original path is copy pasted into the mask path properties. this should making it "grow" from the starting point. i.e. the bottom

How do I get an imported vector file to become a mask/have mask contents like you did here? If that's possible? Thanks!
@ManueldoesMotion3 жыл бұрын
The easiest way is to copy the path in Illustrator, then go to After Effects, select a solid and paste it. That should automatically create a mask.
@Rishav5204 жыл бұрын
we also need to link the stem light.. mask path and mask expansion to the stem layer right?? i didnt see it in the video
@ManueldoesMotion4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that needs to be linked. In the video, we link the properties and then copy the layer. And the links are automatically copied as well so you don't need to linke them again.

now i have completed the video tutorial ..just as it was shown in the video ...now sir .. suppose i made a vase and stem in illustrator and brought it to after effects ..how can i get the GROW effect ...would really appreciate your guidance
@ManueldoesMotion4 жыл бұрын
Hi! So I guess the elements you imported are now masks. Sou you could animate those masks to grow your elements, or you could add a new white solid on top of the element you want to grow, add a mask to that white layer and animate it. And you need to set the layer below the white solid to alpha track matte.

Hi Manuel, I have been attempting to do this with an method of a solid white rectangle on top of a leaf shaped image, but i cant get it to do anything. @@ManueldoesMotion

I SOLVED MY PROBLEM!!!!! Shape layers and solid layers are not the same thing. I had been creating shapes and making masks on those which did nothing. Making a solid and then making a mask on that had the desired effect.

your speed graph doesnt make sense for me. You start and finish at the same point and the plant doesnt loop
@ManueldoesMotion3 жыл бұрын
The speed graph controls the speed of the animation at a certain time. In this case it makes the growth start slow, then speed up and end slow again. Similar to adding "easy ease".
