Came across this tree a while back, fell in love but figured I wouldn't be able to grow one in the Netherlands. You've proven the opposite, thus I'd love a cutting!

@@GrowingBonsai That's when I will have enough time to care for them properly! I work construction. Run the gravel pit equipment. I feel my trees suffer a bit for the long hours in summer. I have to keep that in mind when deciding on new trees to try.

Very enjoyable seeing the progress this tropical has made. A really good point about putting the cuttings straight back into the bag - who knows what spring may reveal :)

I hope that in the next weeks they will root. Another few weeks of good weather ahead!

I ran into the same situation here with my brt cuttings. Was getting too cold outside for them to root up so I had to switch them into small pots and bring them indoors. They had a bunch of the white dots forming for new roots and new leaf buds up top so I'm hopeful they will make it.

fingers crossed!

Mine would start out looking fine in the morning, but wilt every afternoon, even with daily watering. Not knowing what else to do, I repotted it, which of course meant removing much of the root ball...and it responded with lots of growth and stopped wilting! I guess it just needed rejuvenation. In coastal Southern California, we can keep these outdoors. Maybe I should plant mine in the ground? As a plant wizard once told me: "Don't give up on cuttings that haven't rooted. As long as they're still green, there's still hope."

Hi Jelle. I love all you video content, very informative, especially your recent ones on Juniper pruning. I would love one of your cuttings of the Brazilian Rain Tree, i have been trying all year to find some here in the UK but have had no luck at all. It doesn't seem to be a species that is readily available.

@@GrowingBonsai Would be happy to pay any post and packing costs. Also would like to ask, did you ever get the aerial roots to grow on your Ficas. I found a little trick that works every time. When you bring the tree indoors for the winter, make a tepee type tent out of tinfoil, wrap around the trunk at the high point (leave space to water at the top) make the tent spread out and leave covered all winter. Works every year for me.
