Hi from Houston, Texas USA. I too am a succulent addict, and been for over 40 years. After moving to Houston from California, (originally from Illinois) my succulents never lasted more than 6 months. Thanks to your videos showing how to cope with extreme temperatures, drought, rain and freezes; I have succulents that are over 5 years old. Covering plants, moving them inside and out, growing in ground and in pots is challenging but so exciting when I have success. Oh yes, I have a T-shirt that says "All who wander are not lost, they are just looking for rocks!" And now I start my landscape pots with a pretty rock or crystal. Blessings on you and may you always stay positive and give encouragement to those of us who also deal with real life issues.

Thanks so much for sharing your pest control measures. I’ve heard heaps of growers say that the oil products are no good for succulents so I’ve stayed away from them. Mealy bug is rife atm because of our hot weather (Melbourne 🥵). I’m just doing regular metho treatment and manual extraction. I don’t like using stuff that will interfere with the good bugs/birds as I get plenty of visitors so I’m hesitant with chemicals. Btw I empathise with you with not liking the heat. I’m also in that stage of life where I just don’t cope in temps over the mid 20’s. Our weather has been just disgustingly hot 😩.

It's so important to use pest control measures that are safe for the environment. I use to have plenty of bees before even when I was using Ecopest Oil. It's only since I started using/trying out the other stuff for powdery mildew that someone suggested, that I saw a decline/death of some bees in my garden. I'm glad you're finding success with your metho treatment and manual extraction. I'm right there with you on the heat! It's just too much at this stage of life. 😩 Hope we get some cool weather soon. How much water do you give an indoor succulent? I've tried doing like you but mine don't seem to dry out fast enough. I think I may need an even grittier soil mixture

Fast draining soil is at the utmost importance. Watering is done when the soil dries up. Then soak and drain. There's no such thing as regular watering(for example, once a week). Because it all depends on how fast your soil mix dries up. Humidity also plays a factor in maintaining soil moisture. Hope this helps.🥰

My house is a constant 18°C| 64.4°F, all year long, provided I keep the doors shut. In the mornings as per usual, these past few weeks..... I'll have my coffee and by the second sip... Sweat will start pouring out of me. So, I have been having my breakfast in front of the electric fan. According to our forecast, I have to wait till Sunday to Wednesday to go out into the garden for cooler temperature.😭Only two things I can't put up with. Where am ı living( west in Turkey) . I don’t give water about 3 mounts. I trıed 3 years ago. All dıed. Since 2 years no water summer time until rain start. Still dieing but not lıke before

So sorry to hear about your dying succulents. I'm amazed that they are still alive after no water for a long time. Succulents love water but not wet all the time. They like the soil to completely dry and then given a good soaking. Thanks for watching and have a great day!🥰

Yes, they do. But I did have a few trial pots with no holes. A cactus, a Jade plant and a big bowl of succulent arrangement. They have all survive with controlled watering. Thanks for watching and have a great day!🥰
