I‘m from Aarau and the fountains are decorated because there is a festival each year at the first friday in july. It‘s calley Maienzug, in the morning there is a parade with all students from the city. Everyone wears whit dresses and all the girls have flower in the hair and in the hand. In the evening there is some kind of a party, that‘s why there was a ferrywheel when you looked down from the church plateau.

Thanks so much for sharing this information. A party in Switzerland?!? It seems as though there is always some kind of festivity going on. This is why we love it so much!

My gggrandfather came from Aarau / Aargau , it was wonderful seeing it! Even the streets where he may have walked, & the buildings and fountains he may have known. Thank you.
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders6 жыл бұрын
That’s cool. Since it’s pretty small he most likely walked the same streets you saw in the video.

The fountain dare decorated in summer for Maeienzug. The school celebration. A maie is the bouquet. Very special to Aarau. Boys wear white shirt and pants with a boutineer. The girls wear a white dress with a floral crown. Similar to the. Canadian first of May celebrations but all the kids do the parade. Very special to Aarau.

Because of your beautiful videos, I can't make decisions where to move in Switzerland. I am healing chef and hopefully I can be useful to people in need. Thank you for your hard enjoyable work again. I am going to watch all of your videos.

That's cool! We all need healing chefs around. I would suggest the French speaking part of Switzerland but this is just my own opinion.

On every video, I have to keep pressing the 'Stop' icon, then pull the red line back to the left, to repeat. I don't want to miss anything. There is so much packed into each episode. So much to absorb & gawk at. You all make a fantastic Team. Thank you!
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders5 жыл бұрын
Great! Should we slow things down at all?
@waltpartymiller68025 жыл бұрын
Please don't misunderstand- I was praising the high degree of content, not complaining. If you continue filming as you have been, your fans should continue to be pleased. That said, when the panning shots of market centers/city squares & like shots are slow- so that there is clear focus on edifices, peoples faces, foods, etc.- that is always good. One other issue- & I think you know about this- is that occasionally audio/speech gets lost due to wind distortion. It is always good to be able to hear the narrators commentary.

I live in Aarau and I just wanted to say, that Aarau ISN‘T the birthplace of chocolat frey, once upon a day, two brothers founded chocolat frey in another town with about 9000 inhabitants „Buchs“.
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders5 жыл бұрын
Oh, thanks for the comment and clarification. We love Frey 🍫chocolate. Now we'll need to discover Buchs.

Aarau is spoken like: are ow It used to be the capital of the Helvetic Republic. If you’re still around there I recommend you the castles from Aarburg and Lenzburg. Have fun and enjoy!

Good Job Mama Chantal on educating the kids about history! Smart girls! May I ask what curriculum do you use for your children? Actually, they are more like big girls at this point and not so much children.

Growing Up Without Borders That’s cool, because you never really see people who’re on vacation in Aarau or Baden, because both towns aren’t really the biggest tourist hotspots so I’m glad you had a good time. ;)
@GrowingUpWithoutBorders5 жыл бұрын
That's exactly it. We're starting to really discover the non-touristy areas of Switzerland!
