I grow it in the Pacific Northwest in pots in my kitchen. Got a small root at the grocery store (stunning that we'd have it!), watered for 8 months, and...nothing. Suddenly, one day, WHOOSH, 8 inches tall. Now it's in the kitchen, bottom-watered, divided into 4 pots...about 4 ft. tall now.

Nice one John. I love growing it here in sub tropical SE QLD Australia & find it LOVES our wicking garden beds. You missed out the info on adding black pepper to help activate the beneficial constituents of the root when preparing it to eat. There's been a number of studies posted on it now if that helps any mate. Cheers & keep up the good work John.

Love raw turmeric in my lunch shake, add ground black pepper for added efficacy...I also add cacao powder, blueberries, 1/2 banana, fresh ginger root, cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of cocoanut oil, maca powder, ashwaganda powder, cayenne, ground flaxseed, local honey or bee pollen, pea protein or whey protein powder, 50/50 chlorella, spirulina tablets, and some pom juice to add liquid. If bananas and blueberries are frozen, really stays with you!

When juicing Turmeric the best cleaner to remove turmeric stains is Mr. Clean ANTIBACTERIAL! Pour some into a spray bottle and spray everything the turmeric has touched including the cutting board. Mr. Clean ANTIBACTERIAL will turn the turmeric stains red so clean all your juicer parts until you no longer see red and the stain is gone! This is the only cleaner I found to work effectively on turmeric stains!

@Zizzi's Genetics I am 70 used basic cleaners as always felt sprays perfume caught my chest. I used what my Mum did for everything, Apple Cider Vinegar, White Vinegar, bicarb of soda still do. Sons brought spray deodorant into the house, almost a war, could always smell it! I'm no goody two shoes, don't drink, smoke, have never drank Coca Cola, similar or diluting juices, food made from scratch, very little processed. Glad I did, COPD from passive smoking, Asthma, a litany of serious illnesses. Third son said, Ma, look at you, your a wreck you should have just done all of those things! Response, didn't like them, anyway, I prefer shoes and clothes. With 4 boys, I bought in sales only and still have majority of shoes and boots. Anybody size 3? My sons fiancée is keeper of the shoes when I pop my clogs, lol. She loves them, is a half size bigger assures me she will find a good home. They come in and out of style!

Wow, Turmeric is your favorite! I've never heard you even mention them!! Yep, its a great plant, no need for 'starts' as you said in the beginning, just plant the rhizome! I'm surprised since you say you plant them that this was the first time you tasted the leaves! I fine chop them, then dry at 105-110 degrees so that it is still alive, I then ground it up and put it in a jar in the frig. I can then easily add a tablespoon to my smoothie with a dash of pepper of course!

Also only recently have learned of Amaranth & Quinoa . 2 very similar plant's, very beneficial from what I've seen so far . What's your take on them ? Any advice, what if any real difference between them? See this historically to have been great for us as while as for chicken feed . You may already have covered these with a video I've missed , but if not would appreciate any thought or input, or maybe as a subject to a new video from you , Keep up the good work's my friend & HAPPY GARDENING ! - Ron
