Since AA missiles immediately increase their altitude with an upwards vector, why not launch from the altitude they'd initially waste chemical energy flying to giving them more energy for top speed..? What's the limit to this kind of thinking ..?

You came somewhat close this time. Good flying by both Toxic and GS! It seems that the anemic radars of the early Fulcrums and Flankers really hamper both plane's abilities to effectively fight in BVR.

Unless they solved the problem, one of the disadvantages of the MiG-29 is the engines. At certain power settings and altitudes, they are notorious for producing black smoke trails that are easy to spot if you are looking.

Interestingly enough, I've read that PZL, once considered getting a building license for MiG-29 and make a domestic MiG-29 but with NATO gear and upgraded avionics. Basically, PZL would have done the same thing than the poles did with the Beryl and the PT-91 Twardy. They would have called that polish domestic MiG-29 the PZL-M2000

Once you learn how to use it it's much more informative than the NATO radars. However, in high G maneuvers I'd much prefer a NATO radar for legibility, but in BVR I'd love the Russian one, it provides amazing notch and missile avoidance related information

Yeah... Those newer Russian Fox-2 are better flare resistant, specially when they're going against rear aspect; defending cold might have not been the best course of action when suspecting an ET lunch... To be fair, Datalink, as well as pilot good interpretation, is what determined the outcome of that battle

MiG-29 is a tactical fighter. Sometimes called "frontline fighter". Yes, it has some interceptor capabilities like fast climbing, and air superiority capabilities like maneuvering. But it is a "small" fighter.

Lockheed Martin already try to put AMRAAM's on Su-27 and Mig-29 but it's absolutely not compatible he needs too many modernization to use AMRAAM'S, JDAM use with already introduced GPS coordinates on the ground , in the air pilot can change target, AGM-88 also use in Self defense mode , detect target on RWR and lunch missiles approximately.

you break lock as soon as you launch but based on range to target that missile might go stupid. Its best to guide it as long as possible. Often breaking lock too early (if the target is far) will result in the missile losing track.

I want to see the F-15EX in a fox 2 fight with an F-22. The EX reportedly has fantastic maneuvering similar to the raptor thanks to the fly by wire controls. Hopefully that's been mirrored in DCS.

i have a question, even if the Amraam its a fire and forget missile, it need datalink mid course update to launch on max range, the firing plane did not to have to point its radar to the target to track it so that it could send the tracking data to the missile? how long that takes? i am not a dcs player but it seems to me that you not using the mid course update of the traget.

If you know the approximate burn time and you know its kinetic energy but it's gone pitbull and you've already dragged it down shouldn't you be able to pull to the vertical sooner and recommit because it would lose energy really fast trying to climb with? Can you explain how fuel is an issue in DCS for this type of engagement? I understand the IRL cases but, presumably, you go into this knowing that you're going to fly directly at the bandit and complete the fight in 20-30 minutes from taking off. What am I missing?

it's quite hard to explain, but MIG and SU It is like now as two military schools. It's like Europe and NATO. MIkhoyan and Sukhoi going on it's different ways. Basically it's Russian productions, but different t way of building the aircrafts. SU 57 and 35 basically SU27, but mig 25 and MIG 31 totally different planes. So SU 75 will be as same as 57, but MIG41 will be some awesome. Will it be in production's - do not thing so. Will it be faster than SR 71 - 100%
