You can think about stealth as a glass: while it's transparent for visible spectrum, it is still solid for infrared and ultraviolet wave lengths. And Su-35/57 and S-300/400 can emit other wave lengths - X-band and L-band. The range of EM wave frequencies object is invisible for is depended on the distance between molecules (look up diffraction formulas), so there is no way to make object stealthy for all the frequencies at the same time

@@ДмитрийЧеботарёв-щ8х You don't have to be an expert to know the RCS of an F-22 or a Su-57. The main problem is the huge radar ahead of the F-22 or Su-57. This radar reflects the radio signal better than anything in the world because it is designed to receive the signal. So the RCS of these fighters cannot be lower than the diameter of these radars, so it is definitely higher than 0.1, because 0.1 is the diameter of a Tomahawk cruise missile in flight, and the width of the radar is higher than a Tomahawk missile. This is not to mention other signal receivers, which are stuffed with fifth-generation fighters. It is simply impossible to hide this radar anywhere, all developments to reduce the visibility of onboard radars do not give significant results. It is important to realize that such fighters as the F22 and Su-57 achieve maximum effectiveness at high altitude and high speed. In such conditions, their missiles fly significantly farther. And if you know the principle of operation of pulse Doppler radars, you should realize that in such conditions their visibility increases many times. Because of the Doppler effect.) That's why there's no radar on F117 or B2. Stealth on fighters is as much marketing as super maneuverability.

On their own, they wouldn't be able to give the Felon a firing solution but it would give the rest of the sensors a rough vector to scan a specific part of the sky and possibly get a firing solution that way with it's other 3 AESA radars (X-band) and/or IRST.

Love these mixed fights, of long range engagement leading to a merged dogfight. Obvs, you can't control if you kill each other at long range or not, but just saying I like your videos that are a bit different from the pure, close range dogfights (but I do love those as well). Also, just to say I've only recently discovered your channel but you've given me hours of entertainment already. THANK YOU!!!!!

I haven't seen an F-22 go under power lines but there is a TF-51 and Spitfire at the airport nearby that do high speed flyovers of my house, as well as B52s, C5s, and C130s from the air force base a few miles away. Also a Saab Draken that flies over once in a long while from somewhere. But in the summer almost like clockwork on Fridays and the weekends there is the roar of Merlins at 8 in the morning or so, and then again flying past the airport, turning around and landing at around 8-10 at night. Cool to watch them taking off and coming in to land.

I feel like numbers would have something to play here too. Russia only has like what, 5 Felons right now? The US has something like 180 active Raptors. I doubt it would get to the point where it's one Felon vs one Raptor. Love these fights though. It would be interesting to see if 1 Felon stands a chance against multiple F22s

Just looked and 21 Felons including 10 prototypes. And not at all in active service. I doubt they ever will be, despite Russian claims otherwise. A few of their "new weapons" are like this. T-14 is still just a parade tank and the AK12 does get deployed, but with no optics which was the whole point of adopting that POS.

The situation of a direct clash between two fighters in the middle of nothing is impossible in principle in the modern world. Russian military doctrine considers aircraft primarily to be a means of reconnaissance, support and missile deployment. Air defense should be used to confront other aircraft in direct combat. Russian military doctrine also assumes that the interaction of the armed forces is more significant than their individual superiority. This difference arises from the fact that the Russian military doctrine was built and is being built for military operations near or inside its borders, and therefore simply does not imply independent military actions of any of the branches of the armed forces, while the American doctrine is built with the idea of fighting far from its own territory, where the main means will be precisely aviation, while the navy will act as a maximum means of basing it, and the army as a means of retaining the already occupied territory.

The Felon survivability against the raptor is astounding considering the gap in investment between the two programs.
@MikePasqqsaPekiM Жыл бұрын
I’m not sold on the Russian stealth claims. I’m also unconvinced the F-22 can be locked and shot down outside a few miles. Hopefully we don’t find out until they’re in museums. The stealth development project itself not to mention its resulting exterior coating is a huge cost in the Raptor program. The Felon is obviously inferior in this essential factor. Possibly very inferior, if you ask India.
@PhycoKrusk Жыл бұрын
@@MikePasqqsaPekiM Really, I think that's the biggest part of the issue; with a lot of these flight models, we're guessing as to their actual stealth capability.

@@MikePasqqsaPekiM Those stealth claims are bull anyways. A recent-ish leak on the Su-57s patent showed that it has an RCS of 0.1 - 1 m^2 depending on aspect, comparable to some 4.5th Gen fighters. Its nowhere near the 0.00015 m^2 of the F-35 for example lel
@dimitri1154 Жыл бұрын
@Firebolt we will never know most likely. Both respective governments have a huge lobby from defense industries and are obviously going to list things in embelishment of their own industries and institutes. Rememeber ussr and Russia have a very strong academy of sciences and have always been strong in physics department. The Felon was not designed to fight its near-equals, just like the F22 wasn't. What you said about driving missiles into the ground, I always assumed that radar guided missiles after the 1970s would be smart enough that they detect the ground and simply skim along the ground until the get closer rather than continuing to lose altitude because they would know that the target isn't going to suicide into the ground. Anybody know anything about this?
@phunkracy Жыл бұрын
If the missile dives to the ground it means it doesn't have a target lock. So while it could skim along the ground, it wouldn't know in which direction to skin, making the whole exercise fairly pointless and even dangerous for friendly targets - because the direction where it skims until target lock could be the direction of friendly forces.
@2KOOLURATOOLGaming Жыл бұрын
@@phunkracy Surely more modern missiles don't have this weakness. It's not too hard to program a processor that goes: "ok, I'm heading towards the ground right now, let's not. I'll just fly horizontally towards the aircraft I am targeting and when I get closer then I will prioritise heading directly at it". It's not going to just decide to turn it's heading 100°. You are more or less mapping its 3D route onto a top down 2D one and it ignores the targets altitude change if it is decreasing beyond a certain rate. If there are friendlies in the direction of the target then that is the pilots decision, nothing to do with the missile.
