We had a maximum temperature of 13°C yesterday in my town near Newcastle in New South Wales & it's 17°C today as we've had rain. My point is last week we were having lovely 27°C days & in August which is what I've been looking forward to but it gets very extreme in my area like I mentioned,we had a freak 33°C day in the middle of winter in July once. Yes,my father has a lemonade plant growing in his Front yard which is next to a Kensington Pride mango 🥭 seedling which I grew from him & I planted in the ground for him last February at summer time & it survived the winter so it should shoot right up this summer. It's planted right next to another Kensington Pride mango 🥭 plant in which he bought from Bunnings Warehouse which is a grafted variety apparently,it went dormant this winter as well !

Last year I had probably a hundred seedlings of Cape gooseberries throughout my garden, huge harvest but didn't even up having any last over winter. Might try to save a few this season.

Guavas look good, my solitary mexican cream guava has a soft spot, must have been found by some kind of bug, will have to wait til next time to try my first one it seems. Everything looks to be doing great down there mate, i think if i had a mandarin tree like that i would sit down under it and eat until I couldn't eat any more, or until i ran out whichever came first

We have long cold winters but if needed living off fruit is definitely possible. We both eat around 10 citrus a day plus other fruit shown in the video, I love my rice and potatoes though!

Dang winter is coming and fall is just around the corner here in the us. The coldest temperature it could ever get here is -2 or -4 F but my plants do not feel it 👍

Its funny, here in san diego we call key limes "Mexican limes" and they are the main one we eat here
@RealLifeFruitopia3 жыл бұрын
I hear you! There's no Mexicans in Australia, so it adds to the confusion of naming and renaming according to location, language and culture.

Hey mate a little off topic but I live in SA and we are currently battling a fruit fly out break in the metropolitan areas. When I spoke with the operations manager he said you can't grow fruit in Victoria due to the fly.. do you have fruit fly in your yard or any prevention measures? Just curious been ive watching your pages for a while now thanks for the content :) sensational yard
@RealLifeFruitopia3 жыл бұрын
Fruit fly get in my peaches, nectarines, apricots and pepino, but not a big deal using fruit bags. The operations manager might be referring to Mildura, which has a completely different climate to Melbourne.
@noh8justlove5493 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate you encouraged me to plant a pepino bush and I planted two together and they are HUGE. I even cut cuttings and within 4 days under a light they had roots so I planted 4 more elsewhere. Its yielding fruit for 3/4 of the year and its fighting off the bugs reasonably well as it yields so much. The fruit is not too bad. I never have watered it either. I think heavy mulching say 60cm thick along with some time spent allowing chickens to graze could stop the cycle. Do you dislike fruit fly traps? The gov has fruit fly trapped all my nonnas trees with no fruit fly on her property. Its abit contradicting with the traps and their approach the farmers are upset.
@MOBAJOBG3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can grow those tropical fruits but the quality of the fruits are below average.
