My favorite part was seeing the Geishas (I can't believe people touch them when they walk around!). Kyoto is a city that I would love to visit the next time I go to Japan, also I am fascinated by their bunny island, fox village, and the bowing deers. What season was this filmed?

Thanks for the great video! Tiny story- On a trip to Japan 2 years ago I went in search of Gion corner. We followed Google maps which had served us well until then, and after a convoluted walk through a quaint residential area we emerged at a small building with a glass door. On the door was a small sign that read, "Gion corner is not here".🤣🤣🤣 Felt very much like "The princess is in another castle".

Just a small correction. Flower and Willow wasn't referring at all to the Maiko. The flowers were represented by the Oiran and Tayuu who worked in these districts which were extremely flashy and ornate in their appearance, even compared to the child-like Maiko, while Willows referred to the Geisha/geiko, also the name plates don't only show the Maiko, but the Geiko as well who are still affiliated with them. Looking for the nameplates is one of the best ways to tell if a maiko or geiko is still practicing, if their name plate is taken down, it's pretty much guaranteed that they have retired. One last little thing, maiko and geiko are absolutely allowed to date, it's very difficult to date as a maiko which might be where this misconception comes from but it's more of a time thing as they don't have a lot of free time especially during their apprenticeship, but it's not a rule that they're not allowed to date while practicing. It's not unusual for geiko and even maiko to retire in order to marry, so they've definitely been dating before the marriage ^^ I appreciate you reminding your viewers to give the maiko and geiko their space and also pointing out that they are strictly artists and do not sell any sort of sexual service ^^ It was also nice seeing the inside of Gion Corner, I thought it was funny that they had little Maiko Mitsuki-san as their visual representation with the okobo ^^

@moushimoushi8963
@moushimoushi8963 3 жыл бұрын
@@lillysummer3546 Hey no worries! It's a good question ^^ With private ozashiki the menu is catered to the guests, if a guest has dietary restrictions, the restaurant that will be catering the ozashiki will be notified to make adjustments. For more touristy experiences it's likely that there's a set menu where they may have options, including vegetarian dishes. The same goes for beverages. If someone prefers not to drink alcohol, other beverages will be provided and no one will be pressured outside of their comfort zone, dietary or otherwise ^^

Kyoto is also on my list. I watched so many period piece action and dramas growing up with the video rental. I go just to see the vintage architecture. When I was a kid I fantasized about be coming a Koga Ninja, but obviously that didn´t happen. I found a decent priced route to get to Japan from Panama. I´d have to stop in Istanbul on the way. Also my bucket list is to literally go around the world. So I will reenter the US on the West Coast. I´m taking the winter off after the holidays.

@linnyunt 5 жыл бұрын
@@Skyknight12 that's pretty much it. If the foreigner guest behaves in a bad way or makes a major faux pas or two, it's extremely bad and damages the members reputation and image. In Japan, Japanese people vouching for foreigners is a big deal. Unfortunately foreigners have been known to disturb the harmony and that's why Japan treats foreigners with a cautious eye. The lengthy time period it took for me to find an Osaka apartment is testament to that.
