Getting Pobelter to coach grubby is a huge W. Guy actually plays League and knows what he is talking about, not just theory.

Grubby when you're looking for Pobelter pics for thumbnails you gotta use the one of him laughing like that Yao Ming meme- it's such a staple in the league community (he's reacting after a pro game to an awkward handshake/hug moment between two players with some bad blood between them, Doublelift tries to hug Seraph)

I always honor people because that kind of forces me to pay more attention while playing, so I know who is making good plays. See it as an extra mission; honoring enhances your team awareness.

About honor system - the more honor level you have, the more free keys you got for opening chests. You can get 6 skins for getting level 5 honor at the end of season, 3 for Warwick and 3 fro Twitch (i believe 2 at a time max). Also there are small rewards for leveling your honor up, some emotes, some icons, more keys, etc. Its not very generous, but it cost you nothing, so why not. =)

Grubby played really well all things considered. The CS was off the charts for even before reaching level 30. The thing was, Annie got super fed from her roams and got over 10 kills. Although it wasnt' Grubby who fed her, a faster reaction time to Annie's roams can slow her down, or to target her during team fights because she had most of their gold.

grubby he wasnt trolling you actually get more skins from honoring and BEING HONORED (if you receive 3+ honors in ONE GAME and you are honor lvl 4 or higher, you get a flare on your banner in loading screen and when you recall it shows a purple or orange symbol under your character for the following game) - moral of the story: honoring gives honor, getting honored gives honor, and honor itself gives cosmetic effects

Pobelter should've been stricter with you about map positioning, especially when you were as strong as this. Irelia can split push away from her team and keep waves moving and you can control the map so much better than when you're floating around your team waiting for a fight to break out randomly.

They get on well and have mutual respect for eachother but like others have said - Pob is saying stuff that to us is so obvious "use your W when annies stun is flying towards you" - Grubby doesn't even know what that looks like from Annie, its kind of frustrating to see. I teach music and you really have to realise that the things that are so basic and drilled into someone whos experienced are the things that the people youre teaching dont even know the concept of. Grubby is obviously skilled intelligent and experienced and would have eventually figured out the game on his own wtihout coaching, but cant help feeling he would have made much more rapid progress with someone who isnt trying to teach him advanced concepts and laning strategy when he doesnt even know half the champions

This kind of game/coaching will be hard to learn from ngl. Since pobelter knows you're new and tries to be nice not pointing mistakes all the time and drilling them in ,even though I feel it would be best. Also mentioning stuff that should have been useful earlier instead like when you kept pushing for no reason. Few pointers: first your LVL 2 is really strong I know some top challenger dude said it's weak but it's not in Midland since the champs there aren't bruisers made to 1v1. Playing male vs ranged you want the wave on your side since you have a better extended trade and need the space to chase them down. +4 minions is a freeze and if you want to keep it you last hit as late as you can. Pobelter mentioned it once but didn't reinforce it so u only tried it ounce more , but Q next to the enemy killing a ranged creep and AA to slow into e is how you get pressure in lane. W or AA the ranged creeps to prep them for a Q into an engage. R and E do stack, I'm sure pobelter misspoke there . Use R to engage , you hold it too much, you even build an item reducing the cdr on ult but rarely used it to engage just watering before dying. Should have rotated from mid earlier, but that's less important. Quing minions to heal is also good at wasting ppls skill shots because most of them can't hold it in their pants and just blow the load even f you can dodge it.

Nah that would be annoying and also not helpful. Maybe you don't remember being a new player but there's so many things you need to pay attention just piloting your character. It's not easy to just talk during a game let alone trying to learn on the fly.

These coaching games have not been the greatest viewing experience, and I think the big reason for this is Grubby (and his coaches) try to learn/teach too many things at once. It's become quite clear Grubby doesn't really have a grasp on runes and items yet, for instance, and it would probably be hugely beneficial to take some time to learn what the most common runes/items are, and why - and do this OUTSIDE of a game where he has a lot of other stuff to think about, so learning retention is better. On the side of the coaches (Pobelter in this case) needs to recognize what level Grubby is at, and not assume Grubby knows what he's talking about. I think this approach of just jumping in and then talking about concepts that are at much higher levels than basic stuff, it's not working. If Grubby is having fun and he thinks this is fine, then obviously it is, but from a spectator's view, it doesn't seem like it's the best way to create a good learning environment along with a good viewing experience.
@miriamkapeller67547 ай бұрын
I don't think he's at the level yet where it makes sense to focus on specific learning objectives. The first 500 games or so should just be spent on getting some intuition for the game and to learn what the different champions and items do. Normally it would not make sense to teach high level concepts to a new player like Pobelter does sometimes, but I think it's fine here since Grubby tends to think about advanced concepts more, since he's used to play at a high level in other games. I mean, Grubby straight out asks some of these question himself about things that normally don't become important before Diamond or so.
@Ahlgreenz7 ай бұрын
@@miriamkapeller6754 I know that he does, but I think in many cases, it's too early for him to be focusing on the more high level concepts. It's fine to be aware of them, and to consider how the feed into the gameplay experience, but I'd compare it to learning to drive: you have to learn the traffic laws before you can drive a car in traffic. Learning the laws (and basic stuff about the car) is not the where the fun is, but it's absolutely cruicial to be able to drive the car properly. That being said, as I said in my other comment, he's free to do however he pleases - it is just a game after all - but my concern - as a viewer - is that the viewing experience suffers because of this, and thus I don't much enjoy watching these coaching videos.
@robertg4207 ай бұрын
@@miriamkapeller6754agree. It doesn't make sense to try and give a low ELO new player intensive schooling on many different topics because the concepts and information just aren't going to stick and will distract them. I think Po's approach of just letting the game play out and answering questions as they arise or giving him guidance on critical situations is the right idea. There's simply so much for a new player to absorb, over hundreds of games there will be improvement
@obba407 ай бұрын
he asked for advanced stuff
@viper27857 ай бұрын
There's a HUGE disconnect between players at different levels, regarding their opinions on optimal play in general, tier lists, etc, but also what to prioritize going into a new game. You also see this disconnect in chat when you see 4 different things spammed when he asks what item next, as an example. If you're gold in another game, you come in with a gold mentality and strive (even if subconsciously) to be gold because that's what you know. If you're a pro or high level player and expect to reach a similar level, it's a bit of a waste of time to come in with that sort of complacency and coddle yourself. Yeah, you're brand new, to THIS game, you need a weird mix of encyclopedic knowledge for Champs and what they do, and to understand the finer points and how they might differ to what you already know, so you can apply prior experience to something new. This nuance seems lost on the majority of the everyday viewer who is complaining about what they think would be the most beneficial experience for someone else.

hes a twitch streamer so he doesnt really look at things much like items or runes bc lack of time and these moments do help potential create content. And he has kinda just been going default runes.
@miriamkapeller67547 ай бұрын
Runes simply aren't important in the beginning, it would be a waste of time and mental capacity to focus on them. Whether or not you have +8 MR instead of the health rune is utterly meaningless if you routinely take full enemy combos in the face since you don't know what the enemy champion does in the first place. They only become important once you exactly know how to play the specific matchup.
