Time for another Gruesome Gulch structure build. This time it's the most important business in town - the Undertaker! Loads of weathering and finishing techniques in this one.
Thanks for watching, amigos!

Btw I really think you are doing Disney, Crump, and Gracey very proud by doing this!!! I am sure they are looking down in approval on your work!!! Though I just now realized Crump is still alive and kicking at 92!!! I would hope he knows about your work

You are a real inspiration. I wanted to give a a trick I came up with. I took then rubber craft foam 1mm. I turned my laser down real low and I was able to print a brick or rock texture on them. Virtually making brick sheets. I then coated with a heavy coat of latex paint then spray paint base cover. Dry brush and wash. and Bob's your uncle. glue with tacky glue. Thanks for alot of tips. just thought I should share.

Just a thought I was able to use light weight spackle and grout my rocks and when it dried I was able to flex and bend the sheet. thanks again

I've got an undertaker shop on my HO scale layout called "We Snatch Em". All I need now is a hearse. Cheers from eastern TN

I "found" Laser Board about 2yrs ago... GREAT stuff!! I use the thinner material (0.015" for HO, 0.017" or 0.020" for S). What I like most about it is that it's dimensionally stable. In other words, for the most part, the thickness you buy, is the thickness you get. Not so with basswood, which could be up to 0.008" thicker than the nominal dimension. Birch/Aircraft Plywood is slightly better, but much more expensive than basswood. Laser board makes great windows/doors... If you're so inclined, you can laser cut the mullions nearly scale, which is a huge improvement over what you could do with aircraft plywood from years ago.

I believe the date on a building is generally referred to as the "datestone" in older buildings. It is usually in a prominent location, such as centered at the top if the building isn't too tall, or near the main entry, or if it is a corner building, engraved into the cornerstone. Beautiful modeling as always!

I think you should look into the NMRA achievement program. Except for some paperwork, you have structures, scenery, electrical, author (KZbin counts for that) You are almost to NMRA Master Model Railroader. And the conventions are loads of fun.

Looking Good! Although ol' M.T. better watch himself, I heard Fillmore Coughins might be setting up shop - he is some real stiff competition, cuts costs to the bone and runs with a skeleton crew. Oh, wait, my mistake, Philmore is a doctor, not an undertaker. They will probably make a great team! OK, I'll stop now :) Can't wait to see the final result!

That is a beautiful building, Dave. The perfect mixture of decrepit and spooky. I hope you'll offer it as a kit. I'll have to build it and add it to my Spooky Town display every Halloween.

Any chance of this structure's laser cut parts becoming available as a package through your kit company? As always, an excellent tutorial with lots of information for those who pay close attention. Time for another tip of the hat to you Sir...

That could be a great idea. I think there are viewers out there, who would snap-up thes models, if they were available as kits. Not sure how it would work, if printing "on demand" would be feasible, but each video could act as a "promotion" for each kit. I think folks would love the idea.😁👍

yeah i cant deal with how small N scale modelers work. I complain about dealing with HO scale detail parts I can just imagine N scale is way worse LOL My dad models Lionel and complains when he has to help me on my HO layout LOL I do have an N scale layout but its just Fast track and as is rail cars and engines I wouldnt attempt to add any detail to them. I currently am detailing a bay window caboose for my HO layout as a shoving platform and am having cursing fits putting details on lol

Would the shoe dye work with using white? Maybe not??? A datestone is typically an embedded stone with the date of engraving and other information carved into it.
@ThunderMesaStudio
@ThunderMesaStudio 2 жыл бұрын
White shoe dye? For white to cover, it needs to be opaque. Stains work by being transparent.

How do you keep the construction paper from fading? I find construction paper fades horribly with even indoor light.

Hello I am a big fan of your videos. I am here in Germany and am looking for a nice western station. Unfortunately I didn't find anything here, and I wanted to ask if you could help me to find one in size G or give me some links. It doesn't matter if you have to build it together, on the contrary, it's really fun then. Thanks in advance Ralf.
