Prowlers used to fly right over my house (and sometimes under me depending on how far up the canyon walls I was) in high school in Dayville Oregon in the early-mid 80s. They would go tearing up the South Fork of the John Day river staying super low. They were coming out of NAS Whidby Island up near Seattle

Oh man that would have been a sight to see and hear. Thanks for sharing, jealous Aussie here right now,haha. Only things we get flying that low are Magpies trying to kill us around Spring time,haha

In my opinion the EA-6B prowler in that dessert camo livery is gorgeous it is my most favourite fighters, I mean like, come on who doesn't love the good old prowler.
@PatriotFalcon2 күн бұрын
I haven’t got this particular prowler from JC, but I must say that JC went an extra mile to model this prowler also. One of the interesting things is this looks like some kind of Caliber Wings mold. It looks like an outstanding model. great Video.

You won't be disappointed if you grab one of these. They certainly have out done themselves!! Wasn't the easiest to review due to not being able to hold it just anywhere,haha. So you always worried about grabbing it on a spot you shouldn't!! Thanks for checking out the video!!

The Agony and the Ecstasy! I saw this advertised and thought - NEVER, NO, NOT EVER. But the design of its assembly makes it so possible as you have shown. Magnificent! Definitely a gear down model as anything else would be a waste. Fiddly-yes. I would have to assemble this over a white sheet and a box as I have just put together a Zero and managed to drop the pitot tube and the aerial so Lord alone knows what I would drop with this. Yet it is very doable and the result is fantastic. Perhaps a curious choice of aircraft to present like this but I am sure that others will follow and what a treat is in store. Such a variation in options as well. You deserve the Modelling Award for Live Assembly.
@heavymetaldiecastКүн бұрын
Yes I was hesitant at first too, mainly by the price. I didn't want to pay a lot of money for a model that didn't go together, being JC Wings. But boy am I happily surprised, this thing despite being fiddly as f#$k went together really well. Assembling models needs to be done over white plastic sheets in the "your about to dispose of someone" kind of set up. I was a little unsure if I wanted to do the assembly on video, as my sausage fingers have a dexterity score of zero,haha. But if I can assemble it, anyone in the world can 😂 Hope you didn't lose your zero parts!!! Thanks for watching!!
@peterhewson3216Күн бұрын
@@heavymetaldiecast It really goes together so well for something so complex and what a result. Yup! Looking at the Zero now. All good and in the air! Tora Tora Tora!

That is stunning, so much detail and so many options. You did a great job with your presentation, that looked fiddly but most definitely worth it. I’m going to see if I can get me one of these. Thank you for showing us👍
@heavymetaldiecastКүн бұрын
Yeah man it was fiddly but it probably looked a little more so as I was doing it while trying to film and keep in camera view. If you just setting it up on for yourself it should be a little easy than I made it look,haha. I rolled low on dexterity!! 😂😂 Thanks for checking out the video, hope you can get one at a good price!!

Mandingo...that is by far the sexiest Prowler (the prototype) I've ever seen! The crew that painted that did an excellent job on it. I am mixed on the model. I like that there are options on how to set it up, but I'm not 100% blown away by the magnetic mounting system. Where the magnets lose me is on the under-wing/under-belly ordinance, simply because those pieces can be misaligned even when securely attached. I do like magnetic mounts when the pieces have pockets to sit in, like the landing gear 👍. I really am very impressed by the paint inside the wings and by the paint work overall. And at 5:41...you said exactly what I was thinking...it looks like a plane in the boneyard. So, there is also the boneyard option as a way to "kit it out" as you say. This is quite a model and I'm glad you got one and shared it with us. 🤠👍
@heavymetaldiecastКүн бұрын
Oh for sure this livery is dam fine!! The magnet strength was fairly good, I probably didn't help with the ordnance with my sausage fingers not working and the tank kept misaligning so dont hold that too much against it. Although they are probably the things that are easiest to knock off as they don't settle into a location, they just sit there flush via the magnet so can be easily knocked. But that said its a 2 second job to put them back in place. But yes there is so much going on with this model so it may be a little too much for some. You do have the Hobby Master option if you want one with less moving bits,haha I have done the video on that awhile ago Ill chuck a link just incase you haven't seen that one. Always wanted to see one of those boneyards, they look huge. I actually go on google maps sometimes and check out the rows of planes and helicopters and see what I can identify,haha. My life is pretty slow sometimes,haha. Thanks for dropping past!! Here's the link, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ2VpWuoibmBfZYsi=QHXzCYetUJTk7cvK

Thank You for your long and nice review. I like the scheme on this plane. It is beautiful. I prefer the normal presentation over the aircraft carrier configuration displaying the wings up and disclosing some of the internal parts of the plane. However, this a matter of 'taste'. I think this is a 'delicate' model.

I hope it was helpful at least. I try not to make the videos too long as people don't want to listen to me all day when there's cat videos to watch,haha. This model is definitely a hands off once you set it up kind of model. I have the Hobby Master version of this so at least I can set this one up all open and have the Hobby Master one which is all closed next to it!! This is a model definitely to be set up in each individual's preferred state. Thaks for taking the time to watch the video!!

Calibre Wings has never done an EA-6B prowler... so it's definitely not theirs! They did make a comment on this model however, saying it was very well made and that they could not have done a better job.
@heavymetaldiecastКүн бұрын
Yes this one is fantatsic, along wither their Su-34's and Su-17/Su-22's its almost like the models are from another company. They are certainly lifting their game from the looks!! I have done one,haha the Lufthansa Lockheed Constellation. Theres not too many passenger aircraft in 1:72 scale. I review what I buy and collect and I don't really collect smaller scale passenger air liners at the moment. I mean if a company ever want to give them to me for free I'd be happy enough to do it, but I buy all the models I review with my own money!!
