This movie, Meredith was fed his lines as he was stages of Alzheimer that led his death in 1997 at the age of 89. Because of his health condition, writers wrote John Sr. aka Pop's death near the lake.

Achara Ernest Borgnine (1917-2012) was legendary actor, who started out in 1947 and continue acting until his death in 2012 at the age of 95. Borgnine won an Oscar for 1955's Marty. But Borgnine was famously known as Quinton McHale in McHale's Navy (1962 to 1966). He returned to TV Series called Airwolf (1984 to 1986). Borgnine served in US Navy prior and during WWII (1935 to 1945).

Great news!! The comedy hijinks can continue!! Although Walter Matthau was too old, jack Lemon was in another 90's absurd comedy. This time co starring James Garner. it's called, My Fellow Americans, and is truly one of the most underrated, hilarious films I've ever seen. Please review, you will NOT be disappointed 😊

This is one of those rare sequels that isn't better or worse, it's just as good as the original. They kept it fresh with more emphasis on Sophia Loren's character. And it's such a nostalgia trip for me. All the jokes to me scream 90s. There's no over the top gross-out humour, which wouldn't come until almost the 2000s, but it's that perfect 90s PG-13 humour that defined the decade. As many have suggested, the 2 Odd Couple movies are a must and if you're bold, Out To Sea is another Jack Lemmon/Walter Matthau comedy that still gets laughs out of me. RIP to all the principle male actors. I also appreciate Kevin Pollack's performance as Jacob. He's perfect for that role and so believable. Every adult son can identify with him. He's also got flaws, as we see in the film. Dude, keep your mouth shut. You've got the girl of your dreams. Don't screw it up.

Finally! :D. LMAO - "Is Sophia Loren Italian?" You're so sweet Steph. Yep - 100%. And it's olive-skin - not deeply tan - re: her complexion ;D. These films never disappoint in the humor and heart. And yes make sure to check out THE ODD COUPLE & their first team-up - THE FORTUNE COOKIE (which garnered Walter an Oscar). On a sad note - This was Burgess' final role - he had Alzheimer's and the crew & co-stars supported him during the filmmaking. Glad you ladies enjoyed this (I knew you would!) xoxo

@@graciefolden2359 Sophia Loren was also a professional race car driver & lays claim to the longest one owner 1955 MB 300SL Gullwing in existence which she raced all over Italy & still owns to this day. There are many famous photo's of her w/the car. & She's wealthy beyond anyones imagination. As a young famous model she gave room & board to poor friends that were struggling artists. You can pay rent painting me pictures she told them. Those artists are now world famous & each one of those never displayed original paintings, is worth millions.

I was wondering if you two would ever watch this one. I'm glad you finally got around to it and enjoyed it. The Grumpy Old Men movies are two of the funniest comedies of the 90s. There were plans to do a 3rd one, but Walter Matthau died, so it was abandoned. However, if you want a recommendation for another movie starring him and Jack Lemmon, I'll recommend Out To Sea. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I remember it being hilarious.

The cast is pretty legendary. Jack Lemmon won two oscars during his lifetime. Walther Matthau won one oscar and Sophia Loren won also two oscars. The only one in the main cast who didnt any won oscars was Ann Margaret. All have won countless other awards though. Not sure if they recognised the actor playing the father of Jack Lemmons character. Burgress Meredith had a long movie career and starred in Rocky films as the trainer of Rocky.

I was thinking about after I watched y'all's reaction to the first one about who would be great in a remake of this. I was thinking Martin Lawrence and Will Smith since they're both pushing 60 around the same age Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau probably were in the first one, but a few years younger. You could play with the fact that they're both 60 but don't look it as a running gag in the movie. Or Samuel L. Jackson and Eddie Murphy. A modern remake of this with the right script and stars would be dope.

You might know Ernest Borgnine from "RED" (2010) w/ Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, etc., Escape From New York (1981), or The Poseidon Adventure (1972), if you've gone back that far. (Note: there are older films he's been in that are great, but I figured these 3 might have a better chance for you to have seen already).
