I have no living family members as my mother passed away two days before my birthday a couple of months ago and no close friends. I don't have to do anything for Christmas if I don't want to but I want to. I used to celebrate and decorate and cook and bake and make candy and I loved every minute of getting stuck in!

I think it's worse to tell kids that there's no Father Christmas, and that they're the ones who're actually getting the presents. It ruins the whole magic of it in my opinion! I used to love the idea that some jolly guy would fly his sleigh to my house and come down our chimney to bring me presents and the whole leaving the mince pie and carrot out for him and the reindeer! Loved it and it's great now, because my little sister is just getting to that age were she's getting excited! Great :)

I shop online - all presents and all groceries. I don't visit anyone and no-one visits me. I send presents and cards to certain people only. I only do what I want. It's just me and husband and pets.We have a fantastic time. Maybe I'm just too selfish to let other people spoil my Christmas :)

It is nearly August and i have to say, i love Christmas. The feel, the atmosphere, the music, the food. We have all come off the back of a terrible time, not only in the UK, but Covid hit us all worldwide. We all deserve to be with those we love..... fill our faces with good food, drink good wine, and be thankful we are still here and well..... rather than complain about shopping, wrapping gifts and such like. life is short and can be over in an instant.

Ohh this is sad. I'm serious. All anyone need do is stop it all and just say no. Unless they enjoy it. Do more of what makes you happy. ❤ Long live all overworked, well-meaning people; your 😰tension and stress is killing you and everyone you love.

The worst of it all is "throw away presents" ... like colorful mugs (of which you already have enough) or plastic stuff that will break in about a week or so ... and I am sorry to say that it is mostly women who are pressuring themselves into giving this kind of junk. I only bother with presents if I have a great idea about something USEFUL because most people I know do not have the spare room for storing junk.

I remember the Christmas Crazes in the 90's when I was growing up! Furbies, Tamagotchi's, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Power Rangers, Playstation etc....Me and my brother drove my parent's to madness virtually every Christmas! We used to stay with my Great-Grandad in the couple of days leading upto Christmas, just so they could go out at 4am to box their way through toy shops' then come home and have a bit of peace!

Now, it's Amazon...thank you very much. As a Xmas present I grew up wanting markers because we didn't have them (I grew in a former Communist country) and my son wanted a Lego Star Death set which was $250! I told him Santa couldn't do that (he was 8 at the time).

This year we cancelled Christmas. Instead of buying presents for my family , who don`t give a thought about what they buy for others. Spoilt children who have so much, they open presents and then basically say, what`s next?" We donated items to underpriviledged families.

I can’t believe the stress and how over the top this is. I’m sticking to my pagan rituals in the deep quiet of the Yuletide. My child had beautiful sweet Christmas without Santa. I never trained my child to ask for a present and demand something from Santa. Bosh. Friends don’t ask friends to go to the mall

Tamagotchis/cyber pets were fun, the only thing was you couldn’t take them to school for the same reason you’re not meant to have mobiles in class now so you would teach your poor loving parents how to look after it and hope it wasn’t dead by the time you came home from school . And the battery wasn’t your normal double or tipple A it was a watch barely.

I’m a support worker on nights & hubby works shifts. Haven’t had the 25th off for 11 years. It’s great! I sleep through Christmas Day so I don’t have to do the ridiculous meal, which is actually a Sunday roast-? I order an Indian at work & pig out with the residents-they don’t want sprouts! It’s great! I do insist on having Boxing Day off for an all you can eat Indian buffet with the family. How many people spend Christmas not doing what they want to do? -cos it’s tradition to have a dry turkey? If it’s so nice why do we only have it once a year? There’s a reason we only see certain relatives once a year, why we don’t have Christmas pudding in March? Why do we send cards to neighbours who we don’t know? I’m getting to that age now when I think,’ life’s too short-I’m doing it my way’. I confess that I have kinda spoiled my new grandson this year tho’! Can’t afford to buy my hub much now tho’!! Have a happy Friday-or Saturday- or Sunday afternoon, April the 7th.....
