Can you still use your new VOIP digital phone with a new router ATM i'm unfortunately still only connected to part fiber 67 plan so still using ADSL broadband

Superb! Thank you for the easy guidance. Ive had so much trouble with EE and their broadband service and bit the bullet and ordered a WiFi 7 router and mesh system to hopefully sort out the issues I have in the house (old Edwardian house with thick walls)

Can you use the same router setup with public static IPs with both the BT configuration and the Virgin one? I am moving from a static IP setup with 5 IPS with BT to Virgin and it's not clear on the changes needed on my own router.

@@GrumpyMansREVIEWS okay but will the asus perform just as well if it was directly from the full fibre modem?

@ Yes it will. Make sure you turn the WiFi off on the BT/EE router.

If I use a third party router, I take it that the BT wifi discs I’ve got to improve coverage would no longer work? Assuming they only work with the Hub 1 or 2?

Hey Pal. I have a TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router arriving tomorrow, to replace a BT Business Smart HUB 3, as I've had nothing but issues with these BT Hubs... now on my 3rd BT hub in just over a year, so my trust for BT hubs has hit a complete low!!... I'm hoping that this video helps me change over to the TP-Link when it arrives. If you know of anything I need to consider, I'd be appreciative if you can drop me a line, cheers Pal.

Hi, I recently signed up for EE Ultrafast broadband BT/EE FTTP rated at 900mbps minimum speed guarantee 700mbps. This is provided by OpenReach and is a 'true full fibre' connection. I was getting these speeds with the new Virgin Hub. I decided to revert to my ASUS Mesh system, which I had with Virgin Media. It consists of two XT8's and a RP-AX56. The primary XT8 is plugged directly into the modem via ethernet cable. The exactly same cable that was plugged into the EE Smart Hub. However, I'm getting half the speeds of the EE Router, around 400mpbs at source. The other XT8 node is getting half this again at 200mps (two floors up). I've tried restarts, reconnecting etc Nothing. Is pretty appalling. I've gone back and forth to confirm the speed difference.
@GrumpyMansREVIEWS4 ай бұрын
@@peterdavies4122 Honestly I can’t understand why that is, I tried the ASUS XT9 mesh and some other brands but same low speeds. I’m on the same package as you and when I was with Virgin Media Gig1 it was a lot faster but not stable enough. For this you’ll need something with more power I’m afraid, ASUS XT12 Pro, ASUS Rog Gt AX6000 something like that.

My guess is interference. Peter, you should change the 5GHZ/2.4GHZ Channels and see if that works. After like 3 hours it should be closer to what you are paying for.

The whole VOIP/Digital Phone would not be a problem if EE/BT had not trashed Modem Mode within the routers they supply. Making it impossible to use a third party (BETTER) router and voip at the same time. I get the idea that EE/BT only want to push users to use there own router/modem however, they are not suitable for some users. Why is VM able to allow the user to place the pre-supplied router in modem mode (Full modem mode i might add), attach the digital phone line to said modem, and also have a much better router routing traffic. All without being double NAT'd. Some of the decisions the companies make it stupid. I have to get rid of my phone line now so i can use my 700pound router. I'm under the impression that Virgin's Voiup method is fully encrypted and safe, where as EE/BT could not do the same so they had to cut corners, instead of fuguring out a fully working solution. I imagine they will release a firmware update in the future that fixes all this. Heres hoping. The BT hard phone line swap over top figital has been rushed and has caused such a complicated mess. They have pushed it back to 2027 lol
