Hi Jamie, Thanks for making this video,very useful to me as I have purchased a Grundig 2035W/3D/GB radio in need of repair and restoration. It took me 8 hours to finally solve the tuning strings out as they were broken and missing in places. I think you should sign off all your videos with a guitar and vocal masterclass. Very impressive 😊😊 All the best from sunny Wales 🌞

Jamie, I've got the same radio. Grundig Majestic 3045. It works but could use a going-through; plus I need to get three buttons replaced. If you truly enjoyed doing that one, you care to do another?

Do you have a source for parts? To be honest, you may need someone with more experience with radios. If you can tell by my narrative, I was a little intimidated with this. LOL

Where did you plug in the guitar? I have this model and haven't found a nowhere to plug in something external ...

I believe I built a cable to go into the "auxiliary in".

I can imagine that radio must have a very good sound looking at the speakers it has fitted

Hi Jamie, I have a Grundig vintage tube radio. It is not working condition because of lack of OUTPUT TRANSFORMER. If it is available with you, can you give me?
@jamiespaulding4 ай бұрын
Ii would be glad to help but I have no parts, or even a source for them other than google search. I will tell you, if your output transformer is bad, it’s most likely bad capacitors and resistors that led to the problem. Trust me when I say that me giving you advice on working on these cool , old radios is nearly like the blind leading the blind.

Hi Jamie, I recently bought a Grundig 1088 1957, I just learning , I have tweeters that are flat, Can I change them To a regular speaker Like yours, I have seen on youtube they go Bad all the time, The Hard fix in mine is the string station changer, I,m blind in 1 eye in my 60's Is not going to be easy. I haven't looked to see what the ohms are 4-8 maybe, Need to buy a sams. thanks for any help
@jamiespaulding7 ай бұрын
Sorry I'm just seeing this. Ohms are easy enough to check. If speakers are bad, I'd stick with 8 ohm as going too low is bad for the amp. Higher is okay

@@brianbloom1799 Also, the new fishing lines they make like SpiderWire etc. should work nicely if you need string. you can buy it according to stretch and braided or not.

The chassis is removed by screws going through the bottom of the cabinet and the feet.

Got it working before it left

I think it was somewhat due to the weak signals I was getting inside my all metal building.

What model of Grundig radio is it?
@jamiespaulding7 ай бұрын
I surely don't remember and it's long since gone back to the customer. I know she had schematics.

All Grundig radios are junk 😂😂😂😂
@Rush-gz9sx8 ай бұрын
You gotta be joking right? NOBODY made better quality consumer radios than the Germans in the 1950s and Grundig were one of the top end brands. The model numbers directly related to their position in the range. 1000s 2000s models were entry level, 3000s 4000s were their middle of the road models abd the 5000s and 6000s were top end. The 5050 is widely considered a collectors "must have".

All I know is that I was impressed. I am not ashamed to admit, I don't know anything about radios. I do know how to check for bad caps. There were several bad ones. That's to be expected considering the age. If it hadn't belonged to a friend, I wouldn't have touched it. LOL
@Rush-gz9sx7 ай бұрын
@@jamiespaulding I bet they were the paper caps ... theyre usually out of spec. Did you change the 50uf filter caps .. theyre usually shot too.
@jamiespaulding7 ай бұрын
@@Rush-gz9sx I did not but she lives close. I have considered getting it back. I would hate to lose a transformer because of a bad filter cap. Voltages were in spec at the time. I was just going to bypass and leave the can for the look. At the time I did it, I did not have capacitance meter.
