Yet another great tutorial from you, Gavin! I got into Photoshopping a couple days ago (although I subscribed to your channel already last December hehe) and I'm loving your videos. Very informative and helpful. Thanks again and keep up the good work :)

I wish some of the other KZbin "tutorials" would be as high quality as your videos are. Thanks Gavin!

Nice tutorial. But isn't that drop shadow effect on the film strip supposed to be under the strip? When you put your photo under that layer the shadow apopears to be on the photo

useful, straight to the point and with a very nice result. Thank you very much

@solangeke : your "Pattern Overlay" is too strong. Tune down Opacity and reposition the pattern so its dark details don't end up on the face or important part of the photo.

Great video (all your videotutorials)...I'm new in photoshop...and your tutorials save my life ;-) One question though : I copied all you did in the video about grunge filmstrip and all works fine, except that my photos seem less dark than the originals and there are spots in the face..(kinda transparant from the background)...Is it possible that I do something wrong ? Thanks !

I thought the same about the drop shadow, it should be the film with photo. Also the the bevel and emboss should only be on the sprocket holes and edge of the film, not the opening for your image. Other wise Good as allways....

@tobsol He does this because he wants to teach others. He has nothing to prove. I for one learn a lot as well as many others. You have the right to weigh in as much as the rest of us. Just don't be a pixel peeper and appreciate it for what it is. A FREE vid!!

@oracledwarf It is irrelevant who he is, this tutorial is about making a "filmstrip", a filmstrip which does not look professional, it looks like an amateur job. I understand that it is a beginner's "quick tutorial" but let's be clear here, if you showed this anywhere in any professional capacity, you would be viewed as an amateur/photoshop newbie. It's a great way of familiarizing yourself with photoshop for beginners, but have no illusion that this in any way is "great work".

@tobsol What on earth are you expecting for a FREE and less than 9 minute video tutorial? National Geographic? Of course this is lo-res. Of course it's whipped up to point in a rather general direction... it's a FREE tutorial. Hi-res images and the time to process them for publication takes just a bit longer than the 10 minutes you get on KZbin for a FREE tutorial. How is it when you give FREE stuff away people always wank that it's cheap and unprofessional? I for one love them.

Not very professional looking, is it? You seem like a nice guy but it is a bit "hey I'm new to photoshop and look how these bland default features work". To make this more professional looking I suggest a) Using a different background b) Not using default settings for the effects on the film, actually using some high-res real imagery of the film roll to get that authentic look and c) Putting a lot more time into it, while this is a great beginners tutorial it really teaches people ugly stuff.
