Totally relate. My husband and I moved away from our families a few years into our marriage. I felt brutal to leave them behind, and also as an auntie it ripped my heart out. But we needed to forge our way together, especially at the beginning, and establish who we were as a couple. Fast forward a few decades, and my younger sister moved here and had 3 kids. I still have 3 siblings elsewhere, but in hindsight it was the right move for us, our lifestyle, our jobs, and as a couple to not have family so close that you can’t find you’re own identity separate from them. I wish you both such a wonderful adventure!

Welcome to CA! If you're moving to a mountainy area def be careful letting your pets out because of mountain lions, coyotes, etc. I even had a neighbor who had their dog swooped up by an eagle in their backyard here. Lots of wild animals so keep your babies safe outside

@@IcyVamp Yup. I grew up in Santa Clarita by the mountains. We frequently had mountain lions and coyotes in our streets. I've seen a lot of pets disappear or get snatched in broad daylight. Very sad.

Even in non mountainy areas in Cali you need to be careful. Here in southern Cal we also have coyotes, mountain lions, and hawks. Few eagles seen around. I never let my lil one out alone. Been thinking of those coyote vests as they can also protect against other animals.

Congrats! I am a CA native, moved to CO. I don't think I will ever move back to CA, but agree that it is the most beautiful state. If I could move back, it would be to Monterey, or just outside San Diego. If you are an hour out of LA, lots of coyotes and mountain lions! Make sure that cat gets used to what the wild can do! Lol I had pets roam free there forever, they were rough and tumble cats, ha. But in the Santa Clarita / Valencia area/ Angeles mountains (if that is where you are going) a catio might be a good idea for a bit so your kitty can get the outdoorsy feel. Can't wait for a new home tour- it has been a minute!!!❤

My fiancé, son and I moved over 1,000 miles away in August, and it was the best decision EVER. We are moving from southern CA back to the east coast next month. I can tell you that there are as many people coming in as leaving. It's crazy. I thought the state would be empty by now, lol. Houses still sell with multiple bids. People keep coming. From where I don't know. But she'll love it. I can totally see her in Calabasas or one of the other LA suburbs. If you have the money, CA is a fabulous place to live.
