As a middle child when I found out my younger sibling was a boy I was pissed, mainly because even though I was young I knew that would be my parents last and did not want to be the only girl who has little communication with any relatives. I can understand Autumns response to the baby and am happy that you and Brandon are allowing her to express her struggle with the change

MG, Autumn's reaction is totally normal. My brothers weren't happy I was coming at all. When they found out I was a girl they were vocally unhappy (which is huge in my family who preaches if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all). But once I was born one of my brothers was just obsessed with me. And...once I was big enough to pick on the other one thought better of me too. Older siblings are weird, you know that. But one thing I suggest, that you probably already thought about, is to have Brandon talk to her. My family dynamic in a loose way is similar to that you/Brandon/Autumn have. I knew my step-day (who I called Dad) all my life, even before he was anything close to my dad. When they thought my mom was pregnant I world was off kilter. Not only was my place in general going to change, but I was SO worried my Dad wouldn't want me or think of me the same anymore. My Dad talked to me and reminded me that even though we don't share DNA, that I was what made him a dad and that love, not DNA, make a family. He had to have that conversation a few times before it sunk in. There were times when I would even tell myself I know he would still love me and all that, but my emotions were just not working in sync with my brain. That's the only suggestion I have for you and you probably already did it because you're an incredibly smart, talented, kind, funny, gorgeous woman. All my best to you and your family!

I’m a teenager with two younger siblings one a girl one a boy and as someone who’s went through the same thing it probably best to give her space and allow her to process and just do the best you can to show her this isn’t necessarily a bad change but a good one and help her get excited about the baby by just helping her imagine all of what to come without pushing it on her

I was a very young mommy. My oldest daughter was 7, her brother that she was very close to was not quite two when baby sister showed up. Brother was so excited, but my eldest daughter not so much. It was hard some days, and some days not so hard. The two girls couldn’t have been more different, like night and day. They are literally the sun and the moon. Each beautiful,mysterious, and shiny in her own way ❤❤

They'll get over it and it'll be fine! We were told my mom's last pregnancy was a girl ( I was the only girl at that point and had 2 brothers, age difference btwn me and the youngest is 10 years ). We were all soooo excited. Go in to have the baby...it's a boy!! I was upset for a minute because I really wanted a sister, but as soon as I saw him, I was over it. And now we're 42/32 and we're the best of friends. I have 4 kids myself, never had issues with any of my kids and genders of their siblings... but it may have been ages of them... Don't worry momma, she'll be fine ;)

I’m an only girl, and the oldest sibling. When I found out at 9 yrs old that I was going to have a baby brother I was NOT about it. Was excited my mommy was pregnant but knowing I wasn’t getting a baby sister I was not happy at all. Like I was prepared to HATE my baby brother… When he was born though, my whole world shifted and I fell inlove with this tiny little human I was able to call my baby brother. Being a big sister felt like such a big label to little ole me. As I got older and became a mom and had gender disappointment with my youngest (I wanted my daughter to have a little sister since my oldest has a little (half) brother.. And it brought me back to when I was little. I realized somethings are just out of my control, and while I may be upset in that moment… Once that little face shows up, a lot of that disappointment disappeared. Big emotions at that age can be rough, and having your heart set one a gender and only knowing how to deal with one gender can be hard. She will soon become more welcoming and open to being a big sister to a little sister, and she will be one amazing big sister to her little sister just like she is with Jameson! I don’t think you read your comments to Autumn but if you read some of them, I wanna say to Autumn… Autumn, I understand the feelings of wanting a sibling of a certain gender and then finding out they are the opposite. Your emotions are valid, and understood. I wanted a baby sister. I wanted to be a big sister to a baby sister. Heck I wanted to have a big sister, but I am the big sister only. As time goes on though, it will get easier; especially when you see and hold her for the first time. I had some big emotions about getting a baby brother but the moment he came, I fell inlove with him. You are an amazing big sister to Jameson, and you will still be an amazing big sister to Maverick! 🫶🏻

When I met my current partner, my daughter was 15. She was ecstatic when I had my second, her baby brother. They’re super close. When I got pregnant with my third and it was a girl, she had the same feelings. Just keep an open dialogue. You’re doing great. My third is on the spectrum and has epilepsy. My eldest is now super close to her sister. She recognizes her role and we’ll need to be a support person/sibling to advocate for her when I’m gone. My eldest has found her mate, who serves in the Air Force. She’s now worried about leaving her lil sister. I continue to encourage her to go travel & be w/ him. Go have your youth. One day, your lil sister will need you when I’m gone. I don’t want you to have any guilt that you didn’t travel and have your adventures. It will come full circle, I promise! ❤😊❤

Sister lady I thought you’d list your makeup brands and colors in the description. I love grabbing stuff other ppl use! Ik you’re busy but you know 😂. Autumn may be jealous. She may want to be the only girl and is afraid a baby girl will grab the girl attention. Does that make sense? It will be a little difficult, but it’s just important to spend time individually with each child just to let them know how you are important no matter what.
