Great work as always man, the real ish bread in these Canadian rations is so nice. I think we can both agree from experience that wheat snack bread is like eating a piece of plastic by comparison.

You made potato soup :) I liked this ration too, maybe because I like stronger flavors , this also an exception in the world of diced/minced/processed meat

I'm sure it occurred to you in hindsight that it would have been smart to use the chicken broth for some or most of the potato fluid, adding water as needed. I'm doubly sure that's how a soldier would do it the second time he had this meal.

That does sound like a good (and tasty) idea!

Pretty nice overall meal ration. Having the extended drinks is comforting so one can sit around after a day of war fighting and relax to a nice hot or cold drink, lite snack.

Wow, I had a friend in Canada send me 2 cases of these MREs and not ONE had those chicken cordon bleus in them. That looked pretty good, most of the MRES from Canada were fairly decent.

Too bad you had to miss out on the Cordon Bleu. The Canadians seem to be really good about changing up the menus on a regular basis. The good thing about that is it keeps you from getting sick of something too quickly. The bad thing is that one (or more) of your favorite menus might disappear before you're ready to say goodbye to them!

I recently tried the IMP as well and I was pretty impressed overall. The onion mashed potatoes reconstituted better for me but I did a lot of stirring and it was still a bit thin. Good video!

You know what I would've done, used the sauce from the cordon blue and hydrated the potatoes with it, that way the sauce isn't wasted and makes the potatoes taste 10x better.

Yay a canadian one, I really want to try this one. I have noticed that with the Potatoes they haven't added enough of the potato mix for the amount of water I think you should just add a small amount and then add more as needed so you don't make potato soup.

"Pain" is bread in French. Pain hamburger is just the French translation. Since Canada is a bilingual country, our packaging has both French and English translations on it.

Great job G !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the IMP's. They used to have A lot more amenities, comforts than U.S. MRE's. They have cut back lately however. Bad luck on mashed potatoes, main and all other items looked awesome ! Peace, John, Magnum.

I wonder if out in the field they may add the hot liquid from the main to the mashed instead of water or as replacement to part of the water? great video thanks.

It would be nice if they breaded the chicken, and put it in without any sauce so the breading wouldn't get soggy. But I guess that might be too complicated.

Great one. Fantastic looking meal. Did it also have mushrooms in the chicken? I am not sure of the darker part. Cheers mate.
@gschultz9
@gschultz9 7 жыл бұрын
There weren't any mushrooms in the chicken. The dark part you saw was probably the ham (which was pretty dark and was almost black on the edge.

There are cookers issued to each unit for group meals. Additionally, there is a solid fuel stove that nests with the Canadian canteen and cup system for individual cooking. Each member should have that stove along with some solid fuel tabs, hence the matches.

Fun fact for those who don't know Honey is the only food that doesn't spoil because of its low water content.
