Nice shooting sir. A couple tips from my gsg experience: -Likes high velocity ball ammo (1250 ft/ sec mininmum) -Takes a while to break in. -Keep thumbs off slide. Gsg is simple blowback and any pressure on the slide will cause it to not retract fully. (Failure to extract may happen) -Gsg runs best with well-oiled slide rails. -Check rear sight for any flashing on the top. Mine had a thin sliver of molding flashing that I trimmed off flush. Big change to POI. -Blue Locktite the tiny barrel screw. It will back out if not locktite'd. -You can easily remove the magazine safety. Just a small piece of stamped metal and a spring. Can find directions on youtube. My GSG runs great and a lot of fun to shoot. Hope you enjoy yours.

So I'm struggling a little bit with mine. Has about 800 rounds through it so may still not be there yet but will frequently stove pipe a full round or eject it fully without it even getting chambered forcing me to rack the slide to load another round. Not sure why. Also having a little trouble with the sight picture. Seems like I have to hold under the targets. Any advice on any of these?
@bruce502 Жыл бұрын
@David Jensen - I tried replying earlier, but it seems to have gotten lost. After 800 rounds, it should be working well. Double check that you aren't inadvertently riding the slide with your thumbs and that the slide rails are well oiled. I tried gun grease, but it caused problems. Oil seems the best. Regarding point of impact. My gsg came with 5 different size front sights. If you have those, install the shortest one. If not, american tactical may have them available. If your problems continue, give american tactical support a call. Phone and email is at the top of their website. I've read that they are helpful folks. Good luck!

I purchased this GSG 1911 22LR 8 years ago brand new for $400, it has been in the woods in the hands of teenage boys so you could imagine the way they treated it 😂 it’s been in snow, light rain, and covered in mud while riding on Quads. This firearm has 9000 rounds through it, I cleaned it after every use and changed the recoil spring a few times. It had a few failures but nothing serious and all of them from ammunition. For me personally it’s one of the best firearms I’ve purchased and still running. I can’t believe you are having so many issues with it.

To all GSG 1911 and 922 owners chambered in 22lr. It’s an amazing firearm. Unfortunately, there are some minor issues that can be fixed. One issue is that these firearms are painted at the factory when the slide rail is already installed, which will cause some overspray on the slide rail which you can sand down. Make sure you also get the inside of the slide as well. After doing this it made my 922 run a million times better and you can also find an optic that you can mount on the firearm. If you go to eBay and you look up dovetail mount for 1911 GSG 22LR you can find one. You just gotta make sure it matches up to the optic footprint. Amazing firearm. Just some tweaks need to be made.

I love mine, after some simple work. Remove all paint from inner guide rails, install full length guide rod. I add 25 thou to the slide stroke when making my guide rod. Now it runs 95% using white box Winchester ammo, but CCI m-mags are the gold standard with functioning the pistol.

My dad bought a Sig/GSG 1911-22 several years ago, when he passed away it got passed on to me. But I will only run 40gr or 36gr CCI Mini Mags, the only issues I normally have are when I load 10+1. It tends to lock back on the first shot, I rack it and then it just keeps shooting. Other than that one quark, it runs like a champ. I plan on buyin a few more so that I don't beat up my dad's gun and I can basically destroy it if I want to. Also I can use them to teach my neices and nephews, along with other new shooters. My neices have all shot that gun, and for the most part they've done pretty well with it.

@@citizenpew The ZRTS kit is worth it. It eliminates the need for the steel barrel screw which is good because having to screw and unscrew wears out the threading in the aluminum frame. The guide rod, barrel bushing, and barrel thread protector make the tolerances tighter for better accuracy. I changed the sights because the front sight kept moving around. I watched your Browning cylce towards the end there and i dont believe that it was a firearm issue. I think its the ammo. Thing with the 22LR is ammo is if the powder isnt righ then it will not even cycle the slide. Also the point of being new. As with any handgun you have to cycle a shit load of ammo. One thing you should do is check your feed RAMP and the extractor CLIP. you may have some polishing to do. And clean off the packing grease from the factory and relube. I have been using Remingyon spray lube on ALL my weapons ALL of my life. Not a lot, a little goes a long ways. Last piece of advice. Buy a shit load of SNAP CAPS and while your sitting around in your recliner on your porch, squeeze off a 100 times or so. Its good for the metal to be worksed. One day down the road it will turn out to be your favorite to fire cause it will be like BUTTER.

As far as .22 1911s go, I have the GSG and the Chiappa arms models, I did a video a while back comparing them. The comments were mixed between the two. As far as construction, the GSG is very tight, very little slop; the Chiappa is a bit sloppy but much lighter. @citizenpew Жыл бұрын
Field striping isn't the best, tools are required, mainly an additional Alen Wrench is necessary. There have been many tell me they sanded down the slide rails to remove friction caused by the paint, but honestly after cycling a few hundred rounds it started shooting low cost ammo. I did a video with a suppressor, I think it's on Rumble, but I shot CCI sub sonic I believe. Now that I've had this firearm for a while I have planned to do a follow up video. I also did a comparison video with the Chiappa 1911-22, it's here on KZbin if you're interested. Some people like the Chiappa over the GSG simply because it shoots anything out of the box.

When you flinch with a .22 you may have bigger issues than the firearm

No offense mate, but Chiappa is pronounced kee-AH-pah. CHI=key, a=ah as in fAther, ppa=pah. Put a little emphasis on the second syllable, keyAHpah. Be sure pah is not pa, and pah is softer. For teachers, ignorance doesn't go well. You don't want to insult Italians who might be watching either. I enjoy your show. Thank you. Take care.

I appreciate the linguistic clarification, I did the same level of butchering to Fiocchi a couple years ago. This comment landed just in time too, as I have a new Chiappa rifle I'll be doing a video on soon. Hopefully my Italian viewers will recognize an improved pronunciation in the upcoming videos.

I’m not a fan of your gun. Taurus tx 22 eats anything right out of the box. So does my Ruger MKIII
@citizenpew2 жыл бұрын
I agree, the Taurus TX22 and the Ruger MKIII are both great firearms, I own each of them as well. Personally I wanted a 1911 in .22lr, one, because I really like the 1911 classic look, two, I don't think one can own too many plinkers, and three, it's nice to have a variety when I'm introducing someone new to firearms. Thanks for watching!!

@@citizenpew You’re welcome. Maybe it will loosen up some with more shooting, break in if you will, let’s hope so. It’s a good looking pistol.

The browning sucks.

I haven't tried the Browning yet, just this and the Chiappa. I prefer the Chiappa overall, but the GSG is still nice.

Based on this video I would not buy this gun, way too many failures.

I wish I never got this pistol. Total piece of crap. Unless you get top grade of ammo forget it. Just get Taurus TX or Ruger Mark 3 or 4. Not this total piece of trash

I heard similar frustrations from others, sorry to hear you've experienced the same. Those other firearms you mentioned are definitely nice firearms. Thanks for watching!

Many recommended an enhancement kit, replaces the spring. They say performance improves dramatically after installing it. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!!
