Hi Gaz, If during a rewire of the house, can you legally replace all the light switches with this new way giving you the flexibility to put the switch/switches wherever suites or do regulations say the original fixed wiring always has to stay in place.

We have a light switch in our bedroom, but we are going to have the door hung the other way, so the door will close over the original switch, so I want to change that switch to a blanking plate and have a switch on the new open side of the door, can this be done with this Quintic switch? I have also seen a video of these switches failing with the spring retainer breaking loose, do you know if this fault has been fixed. Thanks, Bob in the UK, LOVE THE CHANNEL SO JOINED.

Very Interesting - I wonder if the light is off - you have a power failure - does the light come on when power is restored? Or does it remember it's last state?

It remember it's last state. The data is stored in non volatile memory in the receiver.

@marcusshipley39353 жыл бұрын
@@charlesrichards5389 why is that? Surely if there was a momentary power cut and the light was on, once power was restored I think it would be infinitely much safer to return to being on. For example if you were traversing stairs?!
@charlesrichards53893 жыл бұрын
@@marcusshipley3935 You're talking about visual safety when the mains go down momentarily. I'm talking about electrical safety within the house. If you had a short due to a water leak, rodent chewed a wire, etc., you could have a fire hazard if the power automatically flowed when it's restored. If you don't want to be caught on the stairs during a power outage (regardless of duration), get battery-powered automatic emergency lights for such locations.
@marcusshipley39353 жыл бұрын
@@charlesrichards5389 I see your point but surely its exactly the same as if the lightswitch was on when the interruption in supply and/or fault occurred?! If there's a short or a water leak compromising the electrical installation or part of it, then, a competent person ie, an Electrician is required to make safe regardless of whether a light switch is on or off?!

I was thinking of the same question. What if the other room has the same set of switches would that interfere with the other set of switch? Will the two sets of switches pair differently? If this topic can be brought up and it happens to pair defferently, im buying this switch right away. I hope you shed a light on this and post it in your next video. Thank you now for the previus informative video and thank you in advance for your next video.
@marcusshipley39353 жыл бұрын
I would say no, because the neighbours set up would already be paired and set up (ie, closed to other devices). However if in the extremrly unlikely circumstances that you and your neighbour happened to be setting up switches at the exact same moment in time then yes it's possible.

Ah but what happens when there is a power cut and the light was off. Does it remain off when the power comes back on. I only ask because our touch lamps come on when the power comes back on even if they were previously off. This means when we are away on holiday we have to unplug these incase of a power cycle and they come on and stay on for a week when we're not there.
