No such thing as a perfect fighter but I know what you mean, arguably the greatest of all time but there’s definitely holes in his game just like khabib. Even if we programmed a fighter and gave them the best genetics, skills, dedication and gave them the best stand up and the best ground game we still don’t know a lot of techniques. Like when Conor pulled that shoulder strike on Donald Cerrone we had never seen that before in the cage. It’s similar to anything. Like even in sales people who have done it for 20yrs can learn something new, a bricklayer can learn something new after doing it for 40yrs. An old dog can learn new tricks that saying is my least favourite

You can’t help but laugh at that part, you can tell Rogan’s genuinely enjoying himself too, it’s too bad he got colitis and had to retire…would have loved to seen him vs Whittaker or someone else at least make one title defense at MW but, oh well. He said fasting for 3 day stints helped cure his colitis

I love his attitude towards fighting. I am just a hobbyist who trains a few times a week, and I sometimes let my ego get inflated by the fact that I train. At the end of the day though, fighting is not the be all and end all. Honestly, sometimes I chuckle thinking about how silly fighting can be. The UFC definitely inflates the hype. All that being said, I hope to keep training for years to come, simply because it's fun.

Some people fall for the bullshit of braggarts who are just covering for severe shortcomings, people like nthem because they're similiarly lacking. McGregor is a prime example of this, talented striker but in grappling and ground grappling severely lacking which is why he looked for a way out of fighting Nurmagomedov by attacking that bus and injuring people.

3:45 I can definitely relate to that. I literally dropped out of high school and quit competing for like 5 years just running from my anxiety, but of course it only made stuff much worse. The only thing that finally helped was realizing how selfish that mindset was, the world does not revolve around me or any individual. Yeah some people in life show support and others even show some hate or doubt, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter to them.

I remember reading "Infinite Jest" by David foster Wallace, and one of the most comforting quotes in the book was along the lines of; " think of how often you think about your best friend... its not very often is it?" "Now think about the most embarrassing thing your best friend has ever done... when was the last time you ever thought of it? Yer a long time ago and not very often." so dont worry about what other people think your best friend barley even thinks about you, your free relax.

Why is Joe so shocked that GSP understands that the world doesn’t revolve around MMA or fighting in the UFC? Of course he takes it very seriously, it’s his health on the line, but in reality whether you win or lose in competition the world will keep spinning, life will go on and you still go home to your friends and family and the people who actually love and care for you
