Great demo and info … I haven’t tried GS pro yet but I couldn’t wrap my head around people saying you need a gaming comp. FPS matters in first person shooters and action games. Who cares about jittery flyovers??!
@ChrisEckes9 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I think all you need is something that will run the software. Eventually you'll probably want to upgrade, but just starting out I do NOT think you need to spend $1500 on a gaming computer.

Perfect time for this video, thanks. I'm setting up my sim right now and just have a Intel i7 11th gen with Iris Xe integrated graphics but am really hoping I can get away with running GSPro on it for now until I get a better CPU. Also in MN go United!

Also did you get the yearly sub or the lifetime?
@ChrisEckes Жыл бұрын
@@lali0020 I think your current computer will work fine on the lite graphics. Might have some frame rate difficulties on the more graphics heavy courses, but it'll load up and let you start playing. I just did the yearly sub. My understanding is that GSPro is still being updated pretty regularly. At some point if it matures I'll do the lifetime, but for now it sounds like the best option is the annual so you can get the updates.

Thanks for doing this video, I was going to try the same thing and make the $15 bet to find out if my laptop might get me by after spending way to much on a launch monitor I wonder if things a 10mph wind would change things. The other important thing you should probably mention is what GSPro connector you are using as that could potentially impact cou cycles available for GSPro. If you could do a screen recording of shot flight we might be able to see a difference but again it could detract from thee GSPro rendering Finally for some folks they may have to pay for a connector license that may not be refundable as well as GSPro so it could which creates more buyer anxiety
@ChrisEckes Жыл бұрын
i've got a Garmin R10, so I just use the OpenAPI connector. I think if you want to dip your toes into GSPro that the R10 is a good entry point. What LM do you have? I know since I made this video that Foresight now has an official connector, and I know Uneekor does too.

Hah. I mean, for me, sim golf is just something you do in the wintertime / when it's night and too late to play real golf. Even the best sim golf is only a video game compared to real life golf IMO. I did end up buying a low-end gaming desktop off of FB marketplace for cheap that I'm using now to run GSPro. I run it on Medium graphics currently, and it's just fine. Yes, there will always be those enthusiasts that want only the best, but for my money, especially considering I don't view it as much more than an enjoyable diversion, I don't feel the need to sink $2k into a gaming rig to run GSPro at a bit higher graphics than what I can run it on now. I'd rather spend that money on playing real golf :) thanks for watching!

Another great video. Would you recommend a better computer or a better projector to run GSpro? Are you happy with your projector? Thanks again. Binging all you golf videos.
@ChrisEckes Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'd spend my resources on a good launch monitor before upgrades to the projector / computer. I like my projector fine, but it does not project in 1080p. If I were to do it again, I'd spend a little more to get a 1080p projector up front, but now that I've got mine I'm pleased enough with it. In my opinion, the computer and projector need to be good enough to not be disruptive, but once you've attained that level of quality, I'd rather have a better LM / better mat.

Good video! Just downloaded GS Pro the other night and setup my old gaming pc which surprisingly runs well only using a GTX 1080 TI which are now their minimum requirements on the website, I’m probably going to snag a 3060 ti and avoid a whole new build. But my question is what are you using for a projector?I’m thinking mine is the bottle neck right now because it doesn’t look as good as it should.
@ChrisEckes11 ай бұрын
1080ti is a good card, imo. My PC has a 1060 6gb and it's working just fine. My projector only outputs in VGA, so 1080 or 4k aren't possible for me.

it goes without saying that software with a lot of demanding 3D graphics requires a powerful graphics card and a powerful computer. GSPro 4k mode requires a lot from the computer.
@ChrisEckes Жыл бұрын

There is a connector tool you can download that will bluetooth connect the Garmin R10 directly to your PC for GSPro. Look in the R10 channel of the Simulator Golf Tour discord, lots of helpful tips. I'm also planning on releasing a video soon about how my setup is all connected together, that's coming sometime this week!

@ChrisEckes9 ай бұрын
@@christopherciciora6533 The laptop with the graphics card will very likely work better than the one with integrated graphics. However, I don't think it will work that much better. I've learned through this golf sim process that laptop graphics aren't as good as desktop graphics, and that a lot depends on what resolution you're planning to run in. I don't think either of the laptops you mentioned will do much better than GSPro Lite graphics, so in my mind you might as well use the laptop you have currently and save up for a better machine later on in your golf sim journey. I think if you buy the other laptop with the 1050 card you'll want to upgrade very quickly, and it will be a waste of money.
