That tails adventure tune definitely has aqua planet zone cues. I love how Sonic 2 8 bits is like the backspine of all sonic's soundtracks in gg/sms...and even other unrelated games. Truly the best.

heck yes, Scratch Golf is one of my favourite obscure gaming soundtracks. Pretty much all the tunes are a jam to listen to, whether they're only a short loop (such as BGM #02 and #11) or if they're more developed tunes (such as BGM #12 and #6), so I'm very happy to see it pop up in one of these. Great choice!

i have no clue what you were on about with "dubious" jazz but its good music so i'm not complaining 👍‼️

It’s about the PSG Soundchip included in the Master System/Game Gear. “Dubious” coins how chiptune can be very abstract.

One jazzy tune is 'The Heat Waves' from Super Monaco GP. Weird key and even weird change. The wildest one is 'Boss' from Astérix and the Secret Mission, probably how John Coltrane would sound if he made chiptunes. I remade it in the PS1's MTV Music Generator.

This reminded me that there's still no comprehensive list of just how many GG games have stereo sound, hearing the soccer game in stereo threw me off since that's just how uncommon stereo is for the system

Great video! Cool selection and I always enjoy your commentary. I am a sucker for any jazz-adjacent chiptune game music, even when it leans heavily into the standard tropes.

I like the in game tune in Poker Face Paul's Blackjack. Not the best one out there but it's one that nobody seems to know yet I enjoy a lot. And it's pretty jazzy as well

always impressed with the flow of how you mix tracks into one another. do you use a DAW or something to do that?
@GSTChannelVEVO7 ай бұрын
yep! it's actually a kind of silly situation here. I render out each square wave channel into its own wave file and then mix with those, always keeping a count on the number of channels I'm using so that it could still conceivably fit within SN76 specs.

Please do this theme for the Genesis some time. I know the Side Pocket series exists but I would love to find out about more 16 bit or FM Synthesis jazz type situations on the system. Or if you have already, please point me that way.

Good news! kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2Godq2Zar2Ugqc and kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5-tdGWhbstqfKM they're pretty old and I think some of those transitions are the opposite of smooth, but the tunes therein? still bops.

What's the next console you're gonna be making mixes from? I'd suggest PC98 but we've covered the OPNs already. How's about PC Engine, or MSX?

I've been thinking about NES or PCE. I don't want to set it in stone yet though! Everything is "perhaps" for now
