I have a white 2018 gsxr 1000R and use it to go to work and back. Awesome bike, don’t have to go fast, you can ride in 6th gear @ 45 to 50 and have power to move without down shifting. Great commuter bike and with A,B,C power settings and 10 traction control, you can set it up like a 600cc, 750cc or 1000cc, so you have like 3 bikes in one.

Vibrations came from eliminating a counter-rotating balance shaft which the last-gen GSX-R had. Less inertia for the engine to overcome, but more vibration. It's a trade off. The 1990's big i-4 engines sometimes had 2 counterbalance shafts. They were like glassssssss at all RPM. Just glass even at 8-9K revs.

Today is my 1 year anniversary of getting the "single R" version. I have done two trips to mainland Europe, 2500 miles down to Austria and back in late May and a few weeks back I went through France to Hockenheim and then into East Germany and back to England. Just a few miles short of 14000 miles. It had 1300 miles when I got it. Love it, can't think of a bike I'd rather have. Particularly like the low-down torque, whilst still being able to scream up to 14k rpm if you wish. You can pretty much ride anywhere in your choice of 2nd to 6th gear. Could do with a slightly bigger tank, but if you are riding long distance on motorway at legal-ish speeds, sticking it in B mode, it will do ~50 mpg. Autobahn at around 100-120mph cruising does reduce the range quite notably - not exactly surprising.

Suzuki decided to remove the counter-balance shaft from the previous engine design and go without in this new engine. As a result, there's less inertia to spin up, but more vibration. Generally the VVT in the engine allows Suzuki to tune heavier torque in the midrange as a normal operating condition (normal cam timing). It only clocks the cam at high rpm to allow the dual personality of strong midrange and ferocious top end. Other bikes have to choose one and drop the other.

You didn’t answer your own title question. I’m thinking of buying a tuono after owning a 2012 gsxr 750 for a few years is it better than a tuono? Also the the 2018 updates should be applied as a recall free of charge on all pre 2018 bikes. Ridiculous that they decide to put thicker discs and bigger pistons calipers on new models and not recall old models.

I have exactly the same maschine as LCR long termer with a superbike handlebars for more comfort. And i prefer driving my FZ09. For me it's more fun to drive on normal roads. The gixxer is overpowerd for normal streets, and i'm still not addicted to quickshifter and blipper after a year of ownership. At the end of the day the gixxer was built for the track. On normal roads you suffer , because you never never can rev the engineover 8000. It's simply too fast.

I’m thinking of selling my 04 vrod Harley for Gsxr 1000 On a scale of 1-10 how much of a difference is it between 1000 and Gsxr 600 With a 600 looks the same but is fuel better? Lighter? Price difference?
@garvincollins86322 жыл бұрын
I have never ridden a Vrod. I read about it years ago when it came out, however I believe it has strong torque from low end and probably pulls strong. For you Redbull the gsxr 600 would feel like a scooter unless you Rev the heck out of it. The 1000 will give you the pull you are used to and then some in my opinion. I have owned a 1986 GSXR1100, 1998 GSXR600, 2003 GSXR1000, and my current 2021 GSXR1000R. On the 1-10 scale it is probably a 6 for the 600 and a 10 for the 1000 and I'm guessing you could put the Vrod at 8.5. Once the 1000 hits about 8,000 rpm it will pull away from a Vrod I believe.

@@theincrediblesulk5543 - In 2006 I had a great enlightenment when I traded my TL1000R for a GSX-R750. I knew within 100 feet of riding the 750, that the previous 8 years of wrestling the TL were essentially wasted. In 2012 I bought a GSX-R1000L2. I put an Ohlins shock on it and had the forks revalved (I thought the BPF forks were crap). It was, I thought, the perfect bike. Back to back 500 mile day-long rides to track days. I loved it. But as much as I've mentioned only Suzukis, I always thought of myself as a Honda person. And I was mad that Honda never made good on their promise to build an V4 1000. So on a whim, I bought the RSV4R. It had power and electronics like I'd never experienced, but I didn't fit on it very well as I have short arms and legs. Not freakishly-so, but... I fit on a Honda NC30 better than a ZX-12, if that makes sense. I also had quality problems with the Ape. Fuel tank had begun to bubble, it developed an oil leak, the switchgear was vague, and I had little to no dealer support. And riding it was hard. It was heavy, hot, and very hard to ride at slow speeds -- for me. So I decided to trade it in for a GSX-R750L6. And I felt like I was home. Sure, I missed the power, but it was an order of magnitude more enjoyable to ride. And then my dealer asked if I'd be interested in a GSX-R1000RL8 at 0% financing for 5 years. I said sure. Honestly, I wasn't prepared for how good the 1000L8 is. It's the best motorcycle I've ever ridden at any price (I've ridden an RC30, RC45, 999R, and an MV F4 312R like the one BvG is riding over on 44 Teeth). The more I ride it, the more I want to ride it. I'm sure the CBR-RR-SP is very good. The quality is probably better. But the total package doesn't work as well for me as the Suzuki. I installed Galfer stainless lines and a Yamaha R1 Brembo master cylinder, which 100% solves all the vagueness if the brakes. Once they're manufactured, I'll install Helibars (a US firm that builds top-top quality taller handlebars) because at 46 years old, I'm probably not the intended demographic of this bike. And, I'll install the cruise control kit that Lamb Chop referenced in the video. Sorry for the length.

The Incredible Sulk tbh, completely different. The 1299 was an animal, it was horrible to ride on the road, but you always had a smile on your face. It felt much more agile than the gixxer. But the gixxer is no slouch, I’d think they’d both be about the same lap times when I track it next year. Emotion for the Ducati Better all rounder for the gixxer

Sorry if my english is bad, isn't my native language but I will try. I have been watching motorcycle videos for almost 4 years, just dreaming with reaching mine someday, and I have never seen someone (or a channel) that could review one with so much details. Often people (including me) just try to find in different videos the information we are searching because you can't have all in one video, well, that was the case until I reach this one. I have 2 doubs, hoping someone can help me to clear my mind because in other blogs or videos I didn't get an answer, I also most say that I didn't went to my local dealership of honda to ask my doubts, I know, probably that could be the way but... I prefer to ask here, I know you all will be honest and speak from their experience, at dealerships I think sometimes they dont do that... But first of all, I want to thank you, for doing this amazing full of quality job and bring us a priceless product, I'll definitely subscribe. Now, to not extend more my text (I could spend more trying to explain how excited I am for finding this channel) Doubts 1.- Is it true that sportbikes in general can have issues on their engines if you drive 'em at low revs? I know they are meant to fly like a missile, but just as I saw in the video, what if some days you just want to commute with calm and tranquillity? I'm not saying I would never rip off that throttle, but the idea of "if you are not running like crazy 99% of the time with this engine, it will break down" it's chasing me. I have read texts of some people here on youtube that are mechanics (so they say) that most ppl go back to dealership with their engines having issues because they just dont ride them on high revs so... I just don't know what to think. 2.- How is the water issue going? I mean, every motorcycle needs to be built to resist water in my opinion, choppers sportbikes enduro adventure etc, but want to ask, how careful do you have to be with the water? you can just wash this motorcycle (or any motorcycle with all these electronics) without any trouble in mind? you can just drive her on the rain for hours without issues? No problems with the components or something important? -I would really really appreciate it if someone takes the time to read and answer me, I'm the only one in my family that loves motorcycles so I have no one to lean on, also no friends here, I'm like an hermit. Blessings to all!.

Hey! I just discovered this vid and saw ur comment, I've been riding for just 5 years so take it with a grain of salt. 1. No this is not the case as far as I know, even though they are sportbikes they still follow the general principles of engines. Heatcycles are what would potentially damage the engine in extreme cases and the long run. Such as if you take the bike only for 30min trips multiple times per day, that would in general be worse than a single trip 2-4hrs long, regardless of type of bike. 2. Yes you can just wash the motorcycles without any trouble, my bike sits outside in the rain all year except winter and is completely fine. If you use a pressure washer however, dont point the nozzle point blank onto the motorcycle, engine and electronics. keep the nozzle like 50cm or so away at least.

Funny you mentioned a Firehawk. I thought I would pick one up. What year was yours? Seemingly Firehawk is good down low too? Currently have an 2017 fz09. Also considered an old Honda vfr750 for longer touring or just get this Suzuki lol.

Go MT10, I've had 11 sport bikes and I'll never go back after my MT10. Just me opinion of course! 👍
@exothermal.sprocket6 жыл бұрын
Be ready to feed the MT-10 with more fuel than a lot of compact cars consume in the same distance. GSX-S1000 over the MT-10 every way to Sunday. 10 mpg better, same power with a tune, less weight.

Why does it need an aftermarket shock ? I haven't heard you complaining.
@LambChopRides6 жыл бұрын
Suspension is first class but rear shock is quite beaten up by winter commute without a hugger and Nitron wanted us to test their new shock for the magazine. All sprung for my weight and setup I'm interested to see if their is an improvement over the standard BFF setup
@rrrkev6 жыл бұрын
@@LambChopRides OK, have you adjusted the stock shock at all or is it on factory settings ? What weight are you BTW? Cheers

Would you recommend this bike to someone who doesn’t do track days and only rides on the road ?

Suzuki and Honda are the best road 1000 bikes. Go sit on them and find out which is most comfortable to you but the Suzuki is more powerful

I own a 06 zzr1400 now and thinking about buying a 19 gsxr1000r. Anyones opinion about?
@ononewheellad Жыл бұрын
Have one myself. Very probably the best litre bike you will own. Handles like a dream and puts the power in gently. Any one can go up a straight road flat out, the GSXR can go round the corners with ease. Best handling bike I’ve ever owned and nothing done to it.

Mega review, thanks for that! Concerning the quickshifter / blipper system of the gsxr. So you mean this system is better than the s1000r(r, xr) and rsv/tuono v4? Can you please compare it to the translogic aftermarket system? Which supposed to be one of the best to buy? I want a smooth butter quickshifter and blipper for my mt09 sp, which works in every Rev. The original Quickshifter isn't really nice smooth and I know the difference from other brands what's possible :). I think like you, just way more fun to shift on the daily rides with those systems... And don't say you can do it without or it's just for track! 🙄🤐😂. Thank you ✊👊💪
@LambChopRides6 жыл бұрын
I would say it's better than those you mentioned, the others are really good but GSXR one has the edge. Translogic system is amazing and standard equipment on Triumphs now, the mt09 system is junk unfortunately imo, I'm sure Translogic will be an 100% improvement over stock. It would be my choice

lol, those are exactly the 2 lovers im torn between for the new bike this season, sdr or gsxr1000r. understand the 2019 is a little smaller and wondering if that will affect the room and comfort that on the 2018's and earlier

The 2019 GSXR is the same as the 2017 so I dont believe its any smaller same bike.. Its a great bike cant wait to get back on mine :-)

@@LambChopRides i was wondering because this is from suzuki's website on the 2019 gsxr "GSX-R1000R Suzuki started with a goal to reclaim the GSX-R1000’s The King of Sportbikes crown. From there, the fundamental capabilities that make a great sportbike were distilled down to three words: run, stop, and turn - making the new GSX-R1000R run better, turn better, and stop better than any other sportbike. Its all-new, more compact, and lighter engine with class-leading power is delivered smoothly and controllably across a broad rpm range, equally suited for driving hard out of a racetrack corner or accelerating effortlessly onto a public highway. In addition, its all-new design consists of a more compact chassis that delivers nimble handling with excellent front-end feel and braking, as useful for trail-braking on the racetrack as for rolling into tight corners on a country road. Added advanced electronics that aren’t too complicated to use and bodywork with refined aerodynamics help reduce drag at top speed on the racetrack and improve rider comfort on brisk street rides. In short, Suzuki developed a new, unmatched combination of reliability, durability, usability, and overall performance with excellent racing potential in a package that works as well for street riders as it does for track-day riders and amateur or professional racers. The Suzuki Integrated Design approach, with a dedicated team of talented engine, chassis, electronic, and aerodynamic engineers working together, produced an outstanding sportbike. The new GSX-R1000R proves it was built to Own the Racetrack, as it captured the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship in its debut year, once again asserting its claim as The King of Sportbikes."
