GSXR Runs for 1 Second then Dies (SOLVED - Tip Over Sensor)

I show a simple solution that could be the reason your street bike runs for a moment then dies. This may apply to other bikes other than my 2005 GSXR 1000. This seemed like an electrical problem since the bike was surely getting fuel for the moment it ran, but it seemed as though a kill switch was toggling on/off. I checked the kickstand kill switch, and it was not that. It ended up being the Tip-over sensor was dangling by the wiring harness, and not mounted upright as it has to be to run properly.

...your comment that it runs for a second or two upon start up was key for me. I have a similar issue on a 2020 Kawasaki KLX250....you can hear the fuel pump pressurize, the bike will crank only for 1-3 seconds and then it will not start again....I'm sure this is the problem with my bike. I was trying to get 100% of the fuel out of my tank without taking the tank off. I used an electric transfer pump to suck the old stanky gas out. When I did all this I was leaning the bike to the left and right sides as far as I could without the bike falling over as to get the residual fuel to where I could transfer it out. I have a good plug and good continuous spark, I have very fresh fuel, I hear the fuel pump come on and pressurize, the bike runs for 1-3 seconds and stalls out. I'm sure it is the tip over switch as everything else seems good to go. Thank you.

Bro thank you so much but I have another problem This little sensor is not working because one of the holes of the wires is blocked because of some bad mechanics So I want to cancel the whole thing how do I do it?

Genuine question when u realized it wasn’t working were your riding it or was it sitting where ever you kept and you tried start it and it wouldn’t fire for more then a second or 2?

When the bike would start would it run rich? I have a 2007 GSXR and running into the same problem. Checked fuel pump, changed plugs, air filter. Ran good yesterday and this morning it didn’t want to start.

Nope, it wouldn't run rich. It seemed to run normal just for a second, but it died because of the tip-over kill switch

Mine did this! it was a Wire on the four pin fuel relay wire had bad spot cause of hard bend new relay first then good for a min lol then same thing i found wire bent and on the road again 750gsxr👊

will it also not allow the fuel pump to prime?

the fuel pump will prime, and that is the only reason it starts for a brief second. It runs off the primed fuel initially, but it doesn't get any more fuel with the sensor tipped over

Did this ever blow the fuel fuse? Im having an issue where the bike will run but then when level it out it blows the fuel fuse
