GT laid back seat post vs Dyno drain pipe seat post. Which seat post sets the seat further back or forward. Examples are from 1988.

Also the 87 dyno pro compes and dtour frames i have/had i measured the top tube are 19 inches(not sure about the regular compes) and the seat tube is a few more degrees back on those also. So when you ride on those bikes you might have to pull the bars a bit back like i did to not mess my back up,lol from old age from leaning forward too much. Nice to see new vids. Gonna watch the other 2 now.

Interesting.. I thought the laid bay would have been the winner

Were these bikes ever ridden with a straight post? Is the drain pipe post more stable, doesn't bent like the laid back does? Thanks.

Most of the GT freestyle line up used laid back seat posts. Mainly the racing bikes had straight posts. The drain pipe was just a cool idea from Dyno much like their Pretzel bars. Provided they are made of chromoly materials then they plenty strong. You can still bend or tweak the laid back post if you did something stupid when riding but it was less likely to bend vs the laid back post.

@@atrains Thanks for the insight. My Red Line in the 80's had a straight post, I just wonder how prone the laid back / drain pipe posts are? I got a straight aluminum post that looks pretty sturdy but the straight ones also bring you closer to the bars...
