Deep Impact Blue (Ford color). Trying to get the code for the metallic grey - I'll have it later today. The transaxle is a Graziano V10.

Looks great. I wondering where you got your fog light buckets and lenses? Im looking for ones for mine. Thanks for your help
@MountainTopDrive Жыл бұрын
I purchased the buckets from H at H Craft Customs in Buford, GA. hcraftcustoms.com/. I thermoformed the lenses myself. I can sell you a pair when you are ready. I have a very brief description of the process on my blog at gt40s.com: www.gt40s.com/threads/michaels-gt-r-build.53210/page-14#post-583609
@milaart1867 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info appreciate it .When you mount the buckets is there a trim piece over the fiberglass or is the bucket all on the backside with just the lens on frontside . Hope you are enjoying your day
@MountainTopDrive Жыл бұрын
@@milaart1867 No trim piece. The bucket mounts on the backside of the fender, and the opening in the fender is cut so that about 3/8" of the bucket surface is exposed around the perimeter of the hole (I hope that makes sense). Therefore, the lens mounts on that flange so that it sits flush with the fender surface. I installed four Rivnuts around the perimeter of the bucket and flathead screws on the lens make everything smooooth and flush.

Thanks for the info. Did you run a flyby wire gas pedal ? Have you had any problems with it if you did ?

amazing build,from an italian you have great taste,how much does it cost to build?
@MountainTopDrive Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Marco!! The kit is around $50K, and then the sky is the limit on how much you want to spend. If you do all the work yourself and keep material costs economical, you can probably assemble a complete car for around $80k. You can easily end up with $150K if you go high-end with running gear and outsourcing for paint & body. That's what I heard, anyway. 😁

@@MountainTopDrive THX👍,i really like your build,i saw many Ford gt replica and most of them lack in interiore design and colors but your car,White Blue with that cockpit and the flat Planet Ford engine.... is exactly how i would make It,so 80 ground + handwork for a build like this?even if the final cost Is 120k Is Still One hell of car,really good job. hey this is a dumb question, but I'm 6'5 do you think I would fit in one of those? Ive been wanting to build a RCR/superlite car but the gt40 I know I dont fit in and I'm not a huge fan of the slc
@MountainTopDrive Жыл бұрын
Hi Tom! I think it would really be a tight fit, but I expect it is doable. I am only 5"10, and I'd say my head is only two or three inches from the roofline. Of course, you can probably recline the seat somewhat, and perhaps customize the seat a bit to get your butt right on the floor. It also depends on where your height is. If you're all legs, then it will work out better. if your height is all in your torso, then it will be a little tighter. You can make it happen for sure. Remember that the GT-40 was only 40" tall (and the GT is 42"), and Dan Gurney was 6'4"! Lastly, I'd say a pre-purchase requirement would be to visit the shop, meet Fran, and see for yourself. Good luck!!!

@@MountainTopDrive hey thanks for the quick reply! roughly how many hours did it take to build the car? also looks like im in your neck of the woods, how hard was it to registeR?
@MountainTopDrive Жыл бұрын
@@toml1446 I have no idea on hours. I worked on it for two years, but only averaged an hour or so a day. There were days where I worked for 6-8 hours on it, but sometimes a few days or more would pass without any work. I'd say 1000 hours as a guess. You can put as many hours as you want into it. It wasn't hard to register. I think there are some options here, but my choice was to register it as a 2019 Superlite GT-R. First, you have to get it inspected to ensure it is roadworthy. You can do this through the state, or an independent inspector. I did a local inspector in Marietta, GA. This will allow you to title it. Then, I sent an e-mail to the Georgia Clean Air Force requesting an exemption for a "component car". This was approved in a matter of days. Then I had to do emissions. This is what happens when it is registered as a post-1993 vehicle. But, because of the exemption, you don't have to meet all of the emissions requirements of a newer car. After emissions, I was able to register it and get my tag. Now I have to do the emissions game every year. It's a PIA, but not too bad.
