Showing the love for Budget full sus! I ride a 2017 diamondback release that I got back in 2018 for $1600 brand new. Rockshox front and rear, sram level brakes and NX drive train, and I added a dropper post. She's a beast! I've ridden Whistler, Keystone and NC bike parks alongside bikes 3x as expensive. Nothing better than sending some huge features after watching someone case on a $7000 Santa Cruz 😉

I actually have this 2019 GT Sensor Comp - it's pretty much the best handling bike I've ridden in almost 30 years of continuous mtb riding....The whole inexpensive package punches far above it's class...it incredibly fun to play around on trail features with, and has such a laid back feel, you can get away with a lot of shenanigans on this bike - and it's very inexpensive for the performance it offers....the 2020 version tweaks it further forward. If you're in the market, don't be a snob and pass this one by. BTW, only thing I changed on this bike was reversing the brake levers (right lever front brake moto style) and adding a Spank Vibrocore 15mm rise bar and some Ergon GE1 grips...that's all I needed for perfection

Mr. JDM I’m still really digging it! Nothing has broken or worn out, it’s been completely reliable. The only thing was a squeaky pivot I took apart to re-lube. I did have to get a hand held bar type torque wrench to service the pivots (many torque wrenched don’t do 5nm) - gt support has been great on answering questions I sent them about servicing the pivots. The bike still rips and is a blast to ride.

My son had a GT Hardtail and was starting to race so we bought him a GT Sensor at Christmas a couple of years ago. He was 13 at the time and spent all of his money over the next 2 years upgrading all of the parts... then we noticed a crack in the lower chainstay. GT did not want to know saying that bike 'looked too aggressive' and must have been 'ridden out of spec' so they wouldn't consider any warranty claim (despite the bike being less than 3 years old when it happened). No possibility of buying a replacement part either. I can't see either of us ever buying another GT, which is a shame since it was the brand that got me into biking in the mid 1990s.

This sucks, and is the same reason I'll never buy a Suntour product. After buying a budget bike ($800.00 2017 Diamondback Atroz 2) that had their shock on it. It came out of the box messed up they wouldn't fix it, or do anything for me. Saying it's because I bought the bike online and not at a bike shop (was an authorized bike shop, online). These companies suck now days you spend thousands of dollars with them they act like they're doing you a favor!! No Jeff it's not a great thing that a decent, cheap bike cost $3,000.00 dollars that's when the industry has gotten way out of hand!! When you can buy new Motorsports vehicles for what you paid for your bicycle there is a problem! One has hundred's more hands building it, more time engineering it, more costly items on it (like engines and transmission's) and it cost less then a few pieces of aluminum welded together!! Someone is full of shit!!!! Who? High end bike shops, and companies that sell to them!!! I think "budget" might depend on the number of years experience you have on a mountain bike. Less than one year $1000 or less. A year or 2, $1000 to $2500. 2 to 5 years, $2500 to $3500. 5 or more years $3500 and up. Also if you are competing in events then there is no limit on price cuz you always need the best you can get. I've been riding only 8 months and am saving for a full sus frame (if the price is right a complete bike) for enduro. My 5 year plan is a full sus E-bike, gotta save my pennies ;-) Anyways thats my 2 cents. Time+motivation=$

The term budget also literally depends on your budget. People tend to get angry at guys with limited experience and the pockets to buy high end bikes. However, they're the ones funding this trickle down where you can decent bikes for decent pricing. By all means, buy that $10k bike sirs. I agree with your progression assessment. I think it's a good barometer for the average person. Though, unless I am racing to win money and championships, I'm not racing a $10k bike. I guess the understanding should be that you're talking "budget bike" relative to overall mtb costs. I was riding a 10 year old Trek 3-series hard-tail and had no idea about mtb price-points...had a little "sticker shock" when shopping. However, I found a Fuji Outland 1.3 (29-er full suspension) for $1100 (new). Definitely a budget bike! I added a dropper seat post and put a wider tire on the front, but that's about the only changes. So far, great bike and rides really nice!

Mountain biking gets expensive quick...but just like any hobby out there you can't expect to get a lot for little money, industry is there to make money after all. That being said, there are good deals out there for sure and you can get a decent bike without shelling out mad money. Couple of options to consider: direct to consumer brands and getting a used bike. In both cases you need to understand that you are going to compromise something. I have had several used bikes and got them at price points that allowed me to save money initially and slowly upgrade parts as they wore out. Bikes loose value pretty fast and there are folks out there who get high spec machines, ride them for year or two and upgrade. That's where you come it and scoop up the bike. Do your research and find negotiating point so you don't overpay and have some money for service/replacement parts. Budget friendly bikes are a good starting point and depending on where you decide to take this activity you will be either spending more money of higher end parts or replacing less expensive ones more often, that has been my experience at least. No, you don't need xx1 and kashima coating there is happy middle there too that you will find (different for everyone)

@@11dhillons Define quality. Materials and processes are going to be industry standard from both companies, especially for aluminum. The welding on a Commencal is no better than the welding on a GT. From there, they're using the same components as everyone else. You can debate design, function, performance, price points and build kits, but to say any aluminum bike is higher quality than another is a misnomer. Unless you're talking about an aluminum frame like Pole.

Saajan Dhillon what’s wrong with direct to consumer bikes?

In my opinion it's the extreme high end of a budget bike. I would love to see bikes under $1k get reviews. I'm just getting into mountain biking and I bought a haro flightline two 27.5 bike. At just under $500 that seemed high for me just starting. The more i look and research the more i realize how low end it is. But I would really like to see budget upgrades for people like me on a entry bike. I do think I will be getting the rockshox recon rl fork thanks to your video of top fork pics under $500.

This 2019 version is being replaced by the 2020 Sensor Comp, but just recently got it on sale online. Seems like a solid bike, but I'm replacing the brakes and rotors right away. Mt400 level brakes are really not that good.

Yes. HT denotes hardtail. Is that problematic?
@thatguythatdoesstuff74485 жыл бұрын
@@scottpratico1315 No, I have a Commencal Meta HT AM. But Commencal is a consumer direct company. They don't sell through a network. WorldWide Cyclery isn't going to review a bike they don't sell.
@scottpratico13155 жыл бұрын
Good point but Jeff is bigger than his business now. He's an influencer because he comes across as unbiased. How can you ignore Commencal when you talk value? Who else is building a credible enduro hardtail with a Lyric anywhere close to that price point? Who else has had that much success in racing while spending a fraction of what the big brands spend? How cool is Amaury Pierron?
@thatguythatdoesstuff74485 жыл бұрын
@@scottpratico1315 I agree about Commencal. The rest, I can only say you don't understand business. Jeff is on KZbin to promote his business, not to be proclaimed an influencer. Commencal is a direct competitor for bike sales. And more, is a direct threat to the existence of his business model. Just because he's become a trusted name in the mountain biking world does not obligate him to promote his competitors.

I've got a trek remedy 7 2019 it has a SRAM nx eagle and it's 14.5 kg and I bought it for 2000$ new so beat this But the brakes suck it has got a SRAM level t's so I'm gonna upgrade them but it's a very good bike for the money
@19redmiata945 жыл бұрын
Those level t brakes do suck, I had them on a hard tail and hated them. Best brakes for the money are the SLX M7000 brakes. Ive run then on some very aggreasive trails and they arw bullet proof.

@@douggore1431 I put TRP quadiems on my new bike and those are now my favorite brakes. The modulation is telepathic and the stopping power is great. They also take 10 minutes to beed with mineral oil.

That's a bike that retails for $800 more than the GT, it should be better. Also the fact, for $200 less than the Trek you can get into a carbon Sensor.

I'm curious as to what is going to happen to resale values in the future. Bikes are not changing much other than the specs that they come with are getting better for the money. I wonder how many people are going to try and cut just a couple hundred off of these bikes upon resale after a year or two. It should be interesting to see on pinkbike which bikes hold value. I've recently seen some yeti sb6 2016 (fox suspension and enve carbon wheels) sell for 2850.00. Also, I've seen many other yetis with not quite those specs sell for under 3000. I'm much more likely to get a high spec used Yeti for the same price point regardless of insurance. You get high end which lasts is the point. Just don't forget your bike is on the roof of your car when you drive into your garage. If the used resale values after 2 years is cut in half with most bikes, that is sort of a bummer and makes me reconsider even the price of this bike over a used bike.

I know this is unusual question but could u tell me which bike around $4000 full suspension. Is the most comfortable sitting up right position for flat riding. I want one for flat that will be super comfortable crossing sidewalks in city without getting sore now I have specialized bike that has no suspension at all and I’m looking for full suspension! And once in a while I’ll go off road but 95% I won’t. Thank u

Canyon you can get a carbon fibre with rockshox fork pike and sram drivr train for 2600 sterling Plus if you do. Your research you can get good parts from less like hunt wheels weigh less than some high end carbon wheels and are bomb proof well good wheels for price don't think you can't go wrong with slx and now shimano have a 12 speed drive train can see them coming back in years to come
