I love those tires. I had a pair over 20 years ago and was the best cornering street tire ever. I miss them.

Would make a sweet 69er with a new 29" fork with disc brake wheelset, the back brake is to cool to mess with ... ' 👍

that set up would make that bike ride very badly, and uncomfortable, steering would be all over the place, also the left rear chain stay doesn't have a disc brake tab, so wouldn't be able to put rear disc brake on with out a special adapter

I wish I could find someone knowledgeable on repairing the iDrive. Under load, mine often slips out of gear. Three bike shops, plus tons of personal research and attempts, but no luck.

I owned a 2001 GT iDrive 6.0 (same frame design, except for rear drop outs and it had a coil spring and basic Suntour forks as it was the entry level model at the time. I then managed to get hold of a preowned iDrive 4.0 , lighter and better specced than the iDrive 6.0.. I rode the GT iDrive 4.0 to work and back at least 4 days a week, did a lot of climbing and was great! The eccentric iDrive system worked as designed, but it was heavier than it needed to be. Still, I enjoyed my fours year's ownership of that bike.

Those are second generation LX v's. The original XT/XTR v's worked like that and then LX copied with a bulkier arm and pivots. I like how powerful they are but really with they left the grey finish to XTR only.

Love that bike, I had one in 2001. The suspension system isn't complex, it just a very simple cam design inside the bottom bracket, the dog bone rotated the cam around the bottom bracket. Your a bike mechanic, and have never seen the parallel link design of the v-brakes? You must have entered mechanics after the v-brake time period?

Back in the mid 1990's those brakes were awesome, and very powerful compared to what was available at that time frame
