If I had to do my suspension mods over again, I would have opted for camber plates instead of bottom shims. With the shims I needed the caster pucks to correct caster and a bump steer kit because the shims did change the geometry and the steering wheel was too jerky without it. So far I have the MCS 2-way remote dampers, caster pucks, rear toe links, bump steer kit and going in next week are the rear end links.

Great video. This May solve my issue…3rd time going to tuner to try to get this right. I have all the same parts as you…do you know how many mm were used for shims in combo w the camber plate? I believe stock already has about 7mm in the LCA. Did you add more or left the oem shims and adjusted camber via the plates?
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly 2 жыл бұрын
I am back to stock shims in the front which I believe you are right - 7mm

I’ve got - Front bump steer tie rods, adjustable caster pucks, caster plates, rear toe links, Monoboll control arm ends, Tarett Locking Plate Kit for Rear Toe Links, Tarett/Wevo Semi Solid Transmission Mounts. All are working great together. On Apex 19” wheels, 275’s in front and 305’s in the rear. No rubbing.

Solid trans mount? Did it make things a bit noisier or harsh?
@scottoconnor3484
@scottoconnor3484 2 жыл бұрын
@@JetFuelOnly yes and no. On my first drive after all the work was done, the most noticeable element by far was the very visceral sound and feel from the tranny mounts. But, within a few drives, that was just part of the package and became less noticeable. On the track everything is firm and predictable.

I know spacers add to the Ackerman effect but will 11mm spacers be an extra issue?

Nice video and great wheels. I am running Apex wheels on my base 981 Cayman. I have rear toe control and front lca’s from Elephant Racing with X73 suspension. Likewise -2.5 Neg camber. I originally fitted plus one size MPSS 275/40/18 but now use Trofeo R Cayman Cup tyres in 265 which are wider then 275 Michelins! they are awesome can street drive in wet no probs and they don’t wear out like Michelins. At 32degrees hot temps grip is amazing. Another good thing about Trofeos is there is no choppiness in the ride and everything is about moving forward. My car has no trouble taking on more modern Porsches especially in the corners.

How did you fit 305 rear tires? Camber plates needed up front for the 265s but it does not appear you have rear camber plates. The Apex site now states you need both front and rear camber plates for the 265/305 combination. Really enjoy your channel since acquiring my 2020 GT4 this summer.
@JetFuelOnly

The video shows the plates being installed up front. Did you see? Rear camber can be accomplished with the rear toe arms. I have 2.6 back there. The toe arms aren’t for the camber though, stock parts will result in toe out of spec when you put that camber in the rear, the toe arms allow it to be in spec while getting extra camber. I see what you mean on Apex fitment guide. Again they didn’t do their fitment research well enough from the beginning since it’s been revised at least twice. Rear camber plays are another way to do it though and will get you a bit more.
@peterbrown3045
@peterbrown3045 Ай бұрын
@@JetFuelOnly I did see the Camber plates up front and I understand that aftermarket adjustable toe arms are required to dial back the correct toe when adding camber in the back. I didn't know that you could get -2.6 in the back without aftermarket camber plates. Just confirming it looks like you did. Cheers.

@peterbrown3045 I think shims were removed to keep it from rubbing the fender. I can’t confirm if any are in right now as the car is at the dealer

😊 thank you For this content! Great job sorting it all out. I just picked up a GT4 718 and I got 19" apex like yours, I want to do 295 & 245. Do you think I should go with these tires I drive pretty hard on the track but I do have to drive it home. Just burned out and delaminated PS4 at local track with alotnof right hand turns
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly 8 ай бұрын
I would say don’t go with the RT660s. My second set started to delaminate. Turns out this happened to some people. The separation happens where the plies are bonded together ACROSS the tire. I’m currently on Nankang CR-S. So far so good. I would try to do 255 up front at least. 985-296 in year is fine.

Great video, thank you for doing it Can I ask on the final alignment spec to get 3deg and 2.4 were the shims that of standard? I’m aiming for something similar so I sure if I need to buy shims. I’ve got the same top mounts, toe links and locking kit on order
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly 6 ай бұрын
I believe the stock shims are still in there. If you don’t use camber plates you will definitely need a shim set.

Thans for great vid and info! Deciding between MR OEM Kit or this two Tarett parts, just have a little concern regarding a strut tower failure... Can tarett/MR top hats lead me into this problem? Or am I worrying too much?
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
I haven’t compared the MR against it. But I’m not sure anything is going to help with the tower failures or make it worse. Porsche might be likely to warranty the situation with MR parts over Tarrett. But no one knows if that will be the case.

Melody has worked on my honda in the past! Great shop. If I want to run a sporty/mild street setup on my 718GT4 like -1.8/-1.8 and 9/10.5 from apex, do you think I need anything more than just toe links (got TPC from a friend)? I don't think I'd need front plates if I just want to run 245/285 on 9/10.5...
