The fact that the tunnel in this game works as well as it does is unbelievable. I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the coding budget was on the pathfinding in the tunnel

Well played there mate. Not sure if you have seen it but I made a Yoshi mod for GTA San Andreas for those that are fans. What ever you decide to play next, I will surely enjoy these fun playthroughs.

Yeah, The Exchange was a complete pain when trialing Riot% back in 2014. I don't remember who exactly started it but I did remember doing one of the first ever runs on it in preparation for the race during the first GTAMarathon stream. I'm actually amazed that an unpatched version still exists as it was patched just before that race, so it was already done early on. But overall, really enjoyed this playthrough. 🙂 I've done enough Riot% runs myself to know the pain.

For Vice City, there is also a trick that you can do to make peds and cars spawn more frequent if you want more of a challenge. But idk if that is something that you want to do

1:21:57 Did a bit of digging, and it turns out you can rectify that and simulate the thicker traffic feature of GTA 3's Riot% by copying the gta3.ini file from GTA 3 into Vice City and editing the values inside said file to a maximum of "3.0" (Vice City's default is 0.6, which is why the pedestrian density is quite low by default) Turns out, that file controls how dense the traffic and pedestrians are, and despite it not coming with Vice City by default, it works in both GTA 3 and Vice City. The only downside to that though, is that I've found that with the file set to "3.0" + the riot cheats activated, it somehow makes the game more crash prone compared to default thickness, at least from my experiences that is. So it's kinda pick your poison at this point. My suggestion would be to just leave them at "1.0" which is GTA 3's default, so you can have a few more pedestrians and vehicles to amplify the challenge, but not to the point where it's crash prone. Doing a few test runs right now, and Mall Shootout is proving a bit problematic, because some pedestrian keeps blowing the guy up before I can get to him.

And by increasing the density, I could also potentially run into the item limit crash problem which I experienced during this playthrough as well, so it's a double-edged sword.

As the last thing I need to do in that playthrough is Flying School, which is very hard with the top-down camera, it will probably be a while before I return to it.

If the game crashes are caused by all the weapon pickups trying to spawn when pedestrians are getting killed, why weren’t the crashes a problem in the original Riot% playthrough in 2014?

I'm not sure if I'll do a GTA 3 OHKO playthrough because I think the only hard mission would be the last one, so it would probably be too easy. And the Halloween special was finished ages ago. ;)
