Its called a moon tank Nick its put in the front of the car so when weight transfers the engine always has fuel because as the gassers leave the line all the weight gets shifted to the rear wheels so all the fuel goes to the back/bottom of the tank allowing the motor to have consistant fuel flow while running the strip

Couple things nick, my dad has a Gasser, 41 Willy's to be exact. yes that's actually what they're called, and they the sit high in the front because of weight transfer. And the tank up front, is just a fuel tank. Finally, the exhaust out the fenders is to shorten the exhaust tube for less weight.

The only thing weight effects in GTA5 is your impact collision so armor is good, it also gives your car more health (how much damage it can take before breaking down)

Tank is for gas, it's in front because the gas gets pulled back and into the engine by inertia so they didn't have to use a fuel pump
