Beautiful sound! Those percussive shifts and naturally aspirated roar are disappearing in modern cars. I have an NB2 Miata with intake and exhaust and while it's far from a fast car, it SOUNDS fast like this one does and, like Misha often says, it has emotion and it's the most fun I've had in 30 years of driving. This goes on to show that the Top Gear episode was greatly exaggerated (as it should be since it’s entertainment). The GTAs had some improvements that went beyond the bigger engine. Wider track with specific panels, control arms and dampers, tighter steering rack, oil cooler and an entirely revised rear suspension with modified anchor points. While Alfa should have made the Q2 differential standard, the tipo II rev 3 platform was very refined for its segment and not a cheap Fiat as we were led to believe.

But to be honest it was not the fastest car nor the best handling. It was beautiful to enjoy, something Alfa Romeo really did an amazing job. Now I own an Mitsubishi Evo 8. They're actually more rare than a lot of Ferrari's. Was just over 5000 147 GTAs made in total and no doubt many no longer exist as they've been crashed
@kasimirdenhertog351611 ай бұрын
@@nickfoster8253in Britain they have a registry where you can look up how many are left - perhaps you know it. I believe I read in a forum post once that GTAs have a 50-60% ‘survival rate’, while the regular models do something like 20-30%. Compared to collector cars like Ferraris, they do 80-90%. So quite OK for the GTA, but still like you said increasingly rare compared to Ferraris.

Great NA V6 👌❤ Handling surprised me - way less understeer than I would have expected with a severe front weight bias that was yet worsened by two people in front and rear seat delete. Barely any torquesteer either - does it have an LSD? 6:04 well that's how you actually set up a FWD - front axle softer for increased grip, rear axle stiffer for less grip, to make the car turn easier under braking and acceleration.

my gt busso handles bett than this one, it has lsd fitted..it transforms the car
@arekb595111 ай бұрын
yeah, there's a lot you can do in order to mitigate unequal weight distribution, in an well set up FWD car some things may seem counter-intuitive (like you mentioned softer front than rear, or rear anti-roll bar so stiff that the car tripods around the corners), but they help a lot to get rid of the understeer.
