The driver AI is made to change speed according to the angle of turn on the z and x axis, not the y axis. This is why the driver struggles to compensate for speed over mounds and steep downward turns.

Seeing your comment very late but ... AI (Artificial Intelligence) does not necessarily implies the learning part. A lot of hard coded AI in games does not use training patterns. In the other hand, machine learning and deep learning systems are referring to an artificial intelligence, usually trained by a dataset : so, capable of improving.
