This mod is based on how i imagined the area north of Shoreside Vale would look like when i saw the GTA3 map for the first time about 14 years ago, before finding out that it was practically one empty area...

*Out of Topic Fun Fact:* The setting of GTA 4 was originally supposed to be called _Liberty State_ instead of Liberty City. That would've included the countryside with mountains and forest surrounding the city similar to San Andreas in GTA 5. Due to the time limitations, Rockstar chose to focus development on only the city instead. In this case for this GTA 3 mod, that's exactly what it looks like.

They said that they choose the city instead because they choose to do Quality over Quantity in the game, in early development they didn't planned on Physics, Ragdoll and such stuff. And Liberty States weren't that big compared to Liberty city now, it had even smaller city than the current one.

Although the mountains are put together with overlapping textures, the scenery around the winding road that goes close to the edge of the cliff and near that bridge is actually quite beautiful.

I always like to think Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt are connected, and that's why that tunel takes you to Carcer City from Liberty City. I don't know which place is worse.

Good job of makind Upstate Liberty feel like it's far away, because in real life Upstate NY is located very far awy from actual New York, but i don't like the absence of traffic cars and low poly mountains

Is this the same mod that was announced like way back in 2007, where there was an open tunnels mod website with the word soon? I remember waiting for it, but then eventually gave up waiting due to obvious reasons. Haha Though this looks a bit more different? I remember in one of the videos there was a bridge connected from portland to the shortside mountain side with more tunnel and road.

I used MEd. to avoid crashing the game you should not use objects which contain paths (which are programmed to have peds and traffic on them, like roads) or place objects outside the game limits

if someone bypassed the map size limit of gta 3 which would be very hard, and they placed upstate in there. that would be sick! actually, i changed my mind. it is really possible since there is existing patches, fixes, tools, or modifications such as largeaddress and mixsets

When I was a kid first playing this on PS2 about 21, 22 or so years ago, I was _convinced_ this place actually existed. I was sure that there was some way to get here, and that the reason it wasn't loading up when you used the Flying Tank exploit/Dodo to fly around here was because you needed to trigger it to load in somehow or needed to beat the game 100% (which I never did because I could never be arsed to find all the hidden packages). Ah, to be a dumb kid again, easily fooled by rumors!

Because they didn't want it to look like there were no roads out of Liberty City at all, and there had to be a barrier somewhere since there's no way to fit a whole country in a PS2 game.
