@peculiarstitches cuz its slightly more unhinged than the other titles of gt live videos. Also changing the titles of your videos can revive videos and make them more visible in the algorithm for some reason. Many channels when first uploading a video make the title something less serious for those who are loyal fans/followers that see it almost the moment it comes our, and then change it later to appeal to a larger audience.

I agree with MatPat on this very topical issue of the eclipse. Not only the fact that it instantly gets dark - you get cold instantly. Crickets start chirping. In the day. Owls can hoot if you're out in the woods. It's not night. It's not day. It's not a time. It is an ethereal, otherworldly experience, and if you've seen a partial solar eclipse, you have NOT seen an eclipse. I missed this last one but went to the one previously... I keep wishing I'd skipped work for it.

I also am a changed eclipse person. I was complaining all week about how excited everyone was. My mother lives in a small town adjacent to ours about ten minutes away. Has a huge hill that’s all cleared and we have parties at the top. It was weird when I went total dark. It was so quiet it got way darker then I ever thought it would. You could feel in the air how significantly colder it was. Her chickens were freaking out after the sun came back out

I was in the center of Indianapolis when it happened. It was wild to see the sun slowly fade, as we got closer to totality. At some point, people started walking out of the shops they worked at, and all the street lights turned on. People started cheering as totality hit, and then everyone just went completely silent. Just staring at it. It was insane.

I didn't get to see the totality, but I did watch a Flat Earther blind themselves by staring at the eclipse for 20 minutes. He told me the sun was actually the core of the earth, and many and varied other insane things, and then after staring at the eclipse (that I explained all the reasons why it was bad to do so), he turned and told my mother that she had an aura of power around her (because his vision was damaged from staring at the eclipse)

As the resident icelandic viewer, let me just say that the midnight sun without blackout curtains is absolutely awful. I went two years as a teenager with no curtains before getting them, and let me say, Ash is right so right. The sun being out all the time is literally so chill. You can go out on a walk literally ANY time of the day and FEEL safe (you are safe when it's dark too, but it feels a lot safer walking around in the light). That being said, in the winter, we only get like four hours of sun, and that makes a lot of people's mental drop.

He went to see Ka, he should know it's not just Circus stuff!! Ka is great! I've been to see it twice (Vegas is a long way from the UK) because it's the only live show I've seen active and wish it was on DVD, the others I've seen (Allegria was OK, Kurios was interesting, Kooza was OK as was Nouvelle) are on Sky Arts as on-demand shows. I assume all filmed shows are shows that aren't going anymore. I wouldn't know where Mystere is but considering it's the inspiration for NiGHTS, I'd love to see it. our was called 'Angel on Earth' (or "Engel auf Erden" in German) it did not have an infecting thing, the 'Toilet Monster' (we did not have a name for that role) just changed. The 'Toilet Monster' also had to close their eyes and was also allowed, but not encouraged to climb after the 'Angels' to catch them (which in heinsight was a very dangerous idea).

21:23 Actually so weird to hear him talk about this. At my elementary school, I made up this game called Underworlder and it functioned basically how he described it. The Underworlder had to tag someone that was on the playground structure and then they would become the Underworlder. The people on the playground structure would have to avoid getting tagged. And due to the way the playground structure was built we had it that you could be on the ground for a few seconds but you had to get back on or you became the Underworlder. The staff would get so mad at us playing because my school implemented a no running rule on the structure but it was a lot of fun!!

As someone who lives in Alaska, I can confirm: midnight sun is great... until you need to sleep. Then, yes, blackout curtains are definitely needed. Also, the flipside of midnight sun is that during the winter, the sun never rises, which is why rates of seasonal depression are so high here. If you want to see the northern lights, Utqiagvik is a very cool place to go and see them -- it's the northernmost city in the USA, and it has a lot of really cool cultural museums and people to meet.

Seeing the eclipse with your own eyes is not something that can be overstated. It truly was an awe inspiring moment. I was lucky enough to see the plasma ejections, as well as the classic diamond ring. It was like nothing else. And no, seeing photos or video does NOT even come close to capturing that magic. Though I have seen some amazing images that only a camera could capture, as well. I hope if you missed this one, you have a chance to see one again. It's amazing.

21:19 I remember playing something really similar to "Toilet Monster" back in elementary/primary, but I don't think we had a name for it. Only differences were that runners could touch the ground for as long as they'd like, and the tagger could climb the equipment, but not touch its platforms. It led to many moments of my friends and I climbing the equipment not meant to be climbed on like monkeys (such as slides and barriers), whilst chasing each other around like we had rabies. Good times.

you're TOTALLY RIGHT about being totally changed after experiencing the total eclipse--I saw it in totality in 2017 and Swore i'd have to see it again every time it happens on continental America. it was almost too cloudy to see it in Syracuse where i watched it this time but not quite, still got the crazy dark-in-the-daytime moment. i totally agree about committing to the eclipse chasing; once you experience it you never go back

In case you're interested, I used to live in Fairbanks, AK--yes, blackout curtains were essential as were eye covers for sleep. Moving to the south (like, Texas) and seeing night last for so long made me think that YALL were the weird ones, not me. Also YES the auroras were absolutely beautiful when we could see them... Definitely worth being on anyones bucket list!!

Toilet monster /almost/ sounds like what my schools call "Grounders" the person whos it can be on the ground but if they go on not ground they have to stumble with their eyes closed, and when they have their eyes closed they can call 'grounders' and if anyone on the ground when they do then they're caught

I think that halo you talked about Mat Pat is actually the moon's atmosphere. I believe the solar flares are too far for us to see. We talked about it in my Cosmo Chemistry course it was soooo cool.

Nope, the moon barely has an atmosphere, for most intents and purposes the moon is considered to be in a vacuum. What MatPat's referring to are solar prominences, which are huge plasma loops or plumes.

Where i live we get midnight sun. Just use blackout curtains and you are good to go. Drawbacks with that is however that the sun doesnt rise at all at times during winter. It sucks

I just got back last month from touring Alaska and seeing the lights... just like the path of totality it's something photos cannot show, or even videos. It's really easy to see why ancient people would look at that and think divinity was at play. At one point the lights started swirling into a cyclone down to the horizon.

24:48 On the toilet monster game topic, up in the northwest we play "lava monster" one person is on the ground while the rest are on the playground, the lava monster is allowed on the playground, but they have to have their eyes closed. The survivers (the other players that arnt the lava monster) can go on the ground, but if the lava monster sees or hears them, they become out or a monster themselves.

I did not see a total eclipse this year but when I was abt 7 I saw a total eclipse and it was life changing because school was out and it just went dark for like 5 minutes it was amazing

I wasn't prepared for the eclipse ahead of time, so I made an eclipse box like an hour before the eclipse happened. it wasn't even a total eclipse, but the tiny crescent of light at the bottom of the box was so amazing to me. I had to go back inside early because it was so tempting to look up. I really need to start planning for future eclipses.

I feel very less creative. We used to call that "toilet monster game" literally "woodchips". The person who was it was allowed to be on the woodchips, but no one else was. They could keep their eyes open on the woodchips, but had to close them on the playground. They then tried to tag everyone else. If you went on the woodchips, and the it person heard or saw you, they could say "woodchips!" And that person would be effectively tagged

You guys should try confabulation home stead. Im surprised no one recommended it. Its a spot the difference/puzzle game. Game tip: the tv statics shows you which floor the anomaly is on. Second half is a little iffy, as if they didn’t know what to do with it, but the first half is solid lol.

your toilet monster sounds a lot like what I've called Lava Monster. main premise is tag but modified typically played on a playground or somewhere with stuff to climb on 1. the whole area is fair game for everyone, but the "lava monster" has to close their eyes while on the equipment, lot of tense moments trying to stay quiet and move out of the way while the It person was swinging their arms trying to hit someone. 1a. they could open their eyes for like 3 seconds so they don't smack into things and to not get looped 2. if the monster says "Lava Monster" and someone is on the ground, the person on the ground is now It. there was a lot of debate on whether jumping or grabbing a pole was considered "on the ground." 2a. one variation of this I remember is that the It person has to be on the ground to call lava monster

We played a game similar to Toilet monster. It was called groundies and the tagger could clime up and tag you, however, if they were on the playground they had to shut their eyes (besides ladders because safety) If you were on the ground and they yelled "Groundies" then you were the new tagger, they also could tag you up on the playground or anywhere honestly.
