I watched the full documentary version and I gotta say, after twelve minutes of hearing “oh yeah, these aren’t actually that dangerous, they eat decaying stuff mostly”, hearing “entirely of human flesh” so suddenly gave me a fucking heart palpation. Especially with that long pause, my god. Absolute chills.

@@omegadragons321 bro you already eat like that. thats what the different teeth do and always have done. incisors are thin, like knives. they slice things. canines dig into meat and hold it in place, like forks, they're mostly used for holding prey to keep it from getting away, and for latching onto a chunk of meat so you can move your head and tear it off. molars crush food between them, like rocks. i get really annoyed when people get snarky and superior when they literally have no idea what theyre talking about.

Seeing the Harvester and its tendency to not go after smaller prey is interesting, and I don't think it necessarily means this organism is intelligent (at least not in the human sense of the word) and thinking these things through. It makes me think of Venus flytraps: They don't snap closed the second anything brushes against them, but rather, it's been determined that they can actually 'count', and they'll only snap closed when something brushes against them a certain number of times in quick succession. This way, they're less likely to expend time/energy on something that ends up being a false alarm. tl;dr it may just be that natural selection chose for the Harvesters that had the systems in place to go after bigger prey while ignoring smaller things (but that doesn't make it any less interesting).
@Laura-bs2hw
@Laura-bs2hw Жыл бұрын
it goes for bigger prey because it gains more energy from bigger animals while small animals are nothing for that much effort like going to a store to buy one peanut when you could buy a meal from a fast food joint instead. still cool though

I kind of thought that perhaps there needs to be a certain amount of weight to trigger the Harvester? Like, if something is very light, that (usually) means it’s small and therefore not enough food, so it’s programmed to only activate when a certain amount of weight/pressure is put on it?

I think the fear of 'imposters' might be related to not knowing who might mug you, kidnap you, murder you, or just be someone that may intend to do harm to you in any way. There's kind of been a big rise of concern regarding people that do awful things, and there's no visual signs of who may be that type of person. Things like Mimics play off of that fear of not knowing what someone's intentions truly are. That's my theory of how it may be related anyway. Kind of a "Anyone you know could be replaced by one of these things at any time, and you'll probably never know until it's too late" idea that gets put in your head.

@@nonsensicalhumanoid I'm only aware of one version, where the props are completely helpful, only able to hide, and negotiate if all the players were in call together. And the only ones with any sort of weapon or offense, are the hunters. I wouldn't be surprised to find that there are variants out there, to whatever degree they might be different. But, this is the only one I know for a fact exists.

I have a theory: The first four carni's (crawl, trimmings, meat snake, mimic), are imitations of natural things. The crawl can be viewed as ivy, the trimmings as raccoons, the meat snakes as snakes, and the mimics as humans. But the rest of the carni's after the mimic don't really work.

GTLive I am so glad I have come to an episode this early, on one that is sponsored by airup no less. I want to thank you so much for bringing this product to me. I am addicted to caffeine. With no hyperbole, I have had no water besides the occassional sip to get medication in. It has been a decade, over half of my lifespan, since I have sat down and had a glass of water. I simply can't stand water, it's the taste. But I need flavor, which pop has supplied. This product and a combination of coping strategie is going to save me from the severe withdrawal symptoms I experience when I don't have a can of dr. pepper at least once in my day. I have you and this company to thank.

Finally, someone else who understands that the taste of water isn't great. Everyone usually tells me it doesn't have any taste... wrong! As one Dr. Pepper addict to another, I hope it helps. I ordered one, but my sinuses are so bad that I actually have trouble smelling the scents, so it doesn't work really well for me.
