And if the police request a tow truck the dispatcher at the tow company would send any truck that didn’t have a car on board. So I would think they were dispatched somewhere else.

My mom had an ol crown vic that was an ex vehicle of the state, was her fav car! It later became my oldest daughter's first car. My grandfather's fav car was a grand marquis....idk much on cars but almost sure marquis was the vic look a like, right?

Yeah, more drivers than I'd like to think can't seem to back a vehicle. In some Scandinavian countries it is required to back into rows of parking spaces so that when pulling out one can see oncoming traffic. The way we do it we can't see through the cars next to us so we just chance it. We could see if everybody backed in. I very much like the back-in requirement, but too many Americans are incompetent; the wreckage would be constant.

When my older sister was in driver's education she had to be able to do figure 8s around parking lot light posts in reverse, I didn't even though it was the same school and the same instructors only a few years later. I did have to be able to parallel park for my driving test though. Also I can drive a manual transmission vehicle well enough to rev match up and downshift without the clutch if I want to though I usually rev match and double clutch to save the synchros. I wouldn't be comfortable trying to drive an unsynchronized "crash box" on public roads though.

@@danielthechskid - Do they even have driver's education in schools today? I learned to back a trailer when I was 6 years old, yes 6. We didn't have many toys, but we had a wagon with a pull handle. I got bored pulling it so I decided to try to push it backwards using the handle. I figured it out and was backing trailers for my grandparents' boat business two years before I got my driver's license at age 16. Today's kids only seem to know what they see in electronic screens with little sense of the physical world.

I can back a regular trailer but not a wagon where the pivoting tongue steers the front wheels, like the running gear on a gravity flow hopper wagon, though with enough time and patience for many retries I can do it if the tractor has a tricycle/narrow front end equipped with a front drawbar. Farm tractors are where I learned to drive a manual, from there transitioning to a passenger vehicle just required learning throttle control since there was no constant speed engine governor to do it for me.
