Other day i was camping and i heard mountain bike tires going at a good speed. I looked up the hill to see someone coming down, but then a guy came ripping going UP. Sold me on ebikes right there looked so fun. I personally like the way a heavy bike feels too, whenever i bikepack all the weight makes me plow through everything and it feels stable. Rotors get hot as hell though on big descents

The weight definitely has its pros/cons, but in georgetown I bet the ebike might be faster on some descents. Even without pedalling

(and H7B ...im hoping to get soon) ...looks great and still kinda raw ...not that i will be doing anything like you nutters...but i still want to get the better bits of my ride without the camera shake... i think that POV is fantastic... and the under the full face POV I have seen (which i wont ever need...ha!) i love the Ebike stuff too cos i will need one in a few years.... eeep!

Not really. Id say it makes you rethink line choice a lot, meaning you sometimes have more options since the E-bike plows over everything.

I’ve only ridden Georgetown on my KTM 300. Maybe if I had an ebike or shuttle service I’d be more inclined to try it in my Tallboy. What’s up with the ratcheting noise when you pedal?

That noise is from the ebike motor. And there is a shuttle service in georgetown.

Super sweet man! I just Put my Gimbal & hero 4 up on my shelf for the time being.. just for quick rides it makes life much easier to grab the Hero 7 & just throw it on my chin bar or chest without having to carry more then 2 batteries 🔋 looks good & stable! Doing anything special to make the image fit the screen better 📺? Seems like the only thing the hero 7 does different is fit a bit smaller on image wise on my channel

Yep, the Hero 7 is far more convenient. It still doesnt quite match the stability of a gimbal, but the image is superior to the Hero 4. I shoot in 4:3 then actually stretch the image slightly to fit 16:9.

Yea my thoughts exactly with Convenience! I just Use iMovie and all my quality goes kinda bad and now the image is smaller so I would See how stretching it a tad would help it fit the right frame for KZbin.. thanks for the feedback tho I’m still a bit inexperienced with it all, I just Love riding and sharing anything I can! Man you were sending it so fast. Awesome riding. I've been teasing the idea if getting rid of the gimbal and getting a hero 7. I just find the gimbal to still be smoother and I can sometimes get dizzy from footage in the hero 7. What do you think?

I'd say the gimbal may be slightly better viewing, but at some point you have to ask yourself if it's worth the hassle. The Hero 7 looks like it really closes the gap and I'm looking forward to getting rid of my Hero 5 + gimbal and getting the 7. Less weight hanging off the chest rig and one less battery to have to manage.

Gimbal is always going to be superior stabilization. I think for most people the Rylo or the Hero 7 is sufficient. I've been digging the 7 so far. It handles harsh light so much better as well.

I've done my own comparisons and found being able to throttle out of corners is enough to make the experience feel totally new. That said, the twins are way more articulate than I am...and I'd like to hear their take on it.

It is the chain, has an extra cog on it, unsure what is called. Only thing putting me off this bike is the noise, but doing a demo on one this Sunday. Will pop it on my channel, my vid skills are not as good as this though haha

All E-bikes make a bit of noise. I think its a pretty insignificant aspect when considering that the Rocky has superior handling, battery life, and looks(in my opinion) to other E-bikes.

Did the demo day on it, and have tried quite a few other brands to compare against now. The noise is the motor, because when I switched it off the noise went away. It is louder than other ebikes, almost has a grinding sound to it. However, I do agree the handling is amazing and overall the package of the bike is stunning. Hard choice ahead as the YT decoy also looks a great bit of kit for about £1.5k less. Rocky Moutain has built a stunning bike, and the actual feel of the motor is by far the best I have tried, it was stunning.

Proper rip as usual!!! Sometimes, it's just fun to rip a wider roughed up moto trail like that, right? That's about what I expected from the chesty with no gimbal. On the head or chin bar, our eyes always correct to the horizon. Our bodies...don't. That's what makes it hard to watch, because you tilt your body, but the camera just follows, unlike with a gimbal. It would be even worse if you were riding down chunk or slower speed tech stuff, because of how much you change your body angle. It just isn't up to par on the chesty, and I don't really know that there's a way to correct for that issue. It's really more about how we always have our heads level so we can see, and a chesty mount can't do that. That having been said...this wasn't unwatchable for me, and I'm usually very prone to motion sickness. It wasn't bad..but again, on varying terrain, it's going to be worse. This was pretty straight forward. I'm still using the chin mount, and I probably will for the foreseeable future, until a better mousetrap comes along. I can get pretty stable footage, and the audio is pretty good with the camera upside down and the foam wind guard. Sadly...i will concede that it's not as good as a gimbal setup, but for convenience sake...it's where I'm staying.

@@TrailPeek ..... Agreed. The other thing is...I haven't yet gotten used to moving my head slowly when I'm not riding, so that the video isn't jerky. The gimbal smoothes that out, but the Hero 7 doesn't. So...there are some downsides, but that latest video from Phil...was amazing. Great sound, resolution, stability...etc. To me, that view gets FAR more than a gimbal, because you don't lose that "what's right in front of the bike" feeling. He's got it dialed, but again...you have to be willing to wear a full face helmet. That's not a worry for me...I always wear one, despite the occasional ribbing I take.

Yes sorry dude hero seven footage is unwatchable for me because it cannot lock horizon so the trees swaying around so much makes me seasick if you mount on a full face helmet as a so-called Chin-cam will work much better and you don’t get so much horizontal rotation .
