No question about the talent. I have always said that those you hear on the radio are not necessarily the most talented ones. These guys were awesome. In 1976, I saw Target open up for Southern Creed and Head East at the Jackson Coliseum. Guess who we were talking about the next day? TARGET!

Thanks for uploading. The Target In Strike CD released in 2017 is fantastic. I liked hearing Jimi sing Love Magician live during this concert (among other songs). He could really just sing any style of music with his powerful, unforgettable voice. The entire Target band were fantastic musicians. Jimi is my favorite singer. Simply the best.👏

On our Skynyrd Shorts series, we are going to work in best Southern vocalists and Jimi is gonna be one of my top picks but you are right, this band is basically the Memphis All Stars!

Thanks for the response. I will definitely watch more of your videos that I now see on KZbin. I love Skynyrd, too, but Jimmy is my top musician. Lou Gramm is right up there also.

Saw them many times in Memphis. One of the best bands I have ever seen to not "make it big". All members are so talented! Paul Cannon and Buddy Davis were two of my idols growing up and playing in bands in Memphis. They still play around Memphis as "Almost Famous".

So many of the greats from that era are still around. I am a big fan of Jeff Golightly.

I love Target! I collect Target memorabilia and have tons of cool shit from the band. Got probably 20-30 copies of their albums including unopened vinyl and their cd's as well as a bunch of super rare Target posters and promo stuff. I'm always looking for more stuff from them for the collection.

I think that Jimi was destined to be the vocalist of Survivor, in an interview he said that he did not want to go to the audition of survivor who were looking for a new vocalist, because they played music a little different from the music , he sang Friends convinced him and he decided to go, at the audition he says that everyone was surprised when he sang, as he did, even Jim Peterik said the same thing in an interview, Jimi himself said that he didn't know he could sing like that, in short, Thank God after Jimi's arrival to survivor is when we can enjoy that beautiful voice he had and that he didn't know,

Jimi did not want to duplicate the vocals from Eye of the Tiger so at the audition, he used his own voice and sang it his way. Impressed everyone! I think Jimi was always a great singer. I never saw him lacking...but he was always surrounded by the absolute best players. Target was a who's who of brilliance.

Not to be confused with with early 70s Atlanta band , Target.
@gtrfletch9 ай бұрын
Never heard of them but I bet it was quite a 70's common band name. I wonder if Atlanta Target had alumni as great as Jimi Jamison?
