best version. Also thanks so much this video and tab has taken my playing to the next level. So many challenges in this song with the left hand, that every other old blues song is easier now
this is the most impressive version of this song ive ever heard. I absolutely love it

Yeah, go for it! I have always dreamed of owing one too. They start from 12 k at the moment (I'd bet this is a Brazilian rosewood Franklin, and I think it is/was owned by Stefan Grossman). Anyway, Duck is truly great, it is a pity he plays mostly nylon string guitar nowadays.

Mississippi John Hurt plays his own Unquie style for that time period he lived in, and I read his guitar is tuned in open G chord, while listening to a few of those guys from that time, their guitar playing sounds kind of flat to add another dimension to their bluesy sound. That's just my observation. I have been listening to MJH for ages now and play along with him, but I can't keep up with his brilliant style, he's the master.
@cameronwynn63412 жыл бұрын
A=432Hz instead of the modern A=440Hz. John played standard tuning in this song I believe
@matthewp37092 жыл бұрын
I thought he said “in the people’s key of c” in the beginning
@matthewp37092 жыл бұрын
… which I think is like a dropped c bass string with the rest of the strings in standard. Maybe ??
@cameronwynn63412 жыл бұрын
@@matthewp3709 the song is in the key of C and the tuning is standard. The lowest string is an E. The lowest C he plays is third fret on the A string. He calls it the people key of C because lots of music is in C because it is easy to understand musically
@matthewp37092 жыл бұрын
@@cameronwynn6341 yeah you’re right. The original MJH version is in G though

Nice try but, not even close. i mean, emulating MJH is practically impossible, IMHO. His ability to create the complex rhythms with the tight and flowing lead is simply unmatched.
