Perfect presentation. I have had the Hitachi M8 for about 30 years and never had a problem. A reliable tool indeed.

Very good, in depth review of this half inch router. I've been on the lookout for a replacement to my existing half inch router that has mysteriously gone missing. Luckily, I've managed to locate a used but almost new, apparently, Hitachi badged version for a very reasonable price. Of course, all that depends on what it actually looks like when I go to pick it up. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

I picked up this router to whack in my router table. I've been very impressed, plenty powerful!

Great video. Like you, I have many routers and recently purchased the cordless version of the Hikoki. I have used it a few times, it certainly feels good. However I purchased it in the belief the batteries from my nail gun would be interchangeable. They are not. So another charger and even more batteries.

Hi Barry, thats dissapointing about the batteries, but at least ots good to use.

Yeah, it's a 36v tool. It's a decent router though, and can be corded or cordless.

Sounds like a good option for a router table. Does anyone know if it would be possible to adjust the height from the top of the table without investing in a router lift? Thanks

I've got one of these, it's branded Hitachi as it's a bit older and the speed controller has packed up, apparently it's a common problem. It's also £33 for a dust adapter, so frustrating they can't throw that in the box!

I've still got my Hitachi branded version, still going strong. Superb machine.

Did i miss it Graham but did it come with a 1/4" collet? The older Hitachi version did and the fence was adjustable. Came with dust collecting adapter too. Mine's still going strong in the table now for 12 years.

Hello, Thank you for your videos. Great one. To have a micrometric depth adjustement was not in your criteria list (for the plunge) ? Regards,

Hello:) What are the dimensions of the base, what are the distances between the screw holes in the base? I am asking because I want to prepare a planner without having a milling machine yet because I am waiting for the courier. Thanks!

So you already own 4 other routers, the question is what does this router do that the others do not do?
@GTWoodshop
@GTWoodshop Жыл бұрын
Good question. I bought this router with the intention of leaving a specific bit in it most of time. This router's primary job in life will be to cut the handle recess on the large end grain chopping boards I make. I may on the odd occasion use it for other jobs, slab flattening or other work that doesn't require the finesse and accessories that other routers have and is far cheaper to replace should I wear it out.

Will this become your travel router? Now you need to redesign your “router wall” once again!

I turned around yesterday and looked to put it away and it struck me. Now I've got to make another holder. Darn it. 🤣

Do you have or know anyone who has a Makita RP2303FCJ? Torn between this Hikoki and the Makita, I only want to do some DIY jobs like worktops and door hinges so which would be best?
@GTWoodshop
@GTWoodshop Жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, no sorry I'm not aware of anyone with this model. For worktops, I assume you mean but and Scribe joints, the Hikoki would be great at those, door hinges as long as you have a jig to provide extra support to the base then again yes. The turrets as mentioned are a bit fiddly to set up (for the hinge recess) but once set no issues.

I have the same router installed in a Jessem lift and its super. it has its own NVR , this can be a pain when in a table if you want a separate on off switch that being said I still its not annoyed me enough to alter the router yet. Cost me 162 in august last year which I thought was a steal!
