Heyo! Just bought a defective 1070, and just as you mentioned, the little coils in the bottom right are burned out, leaving a big gap. So, is it possible to just jump the two side together, or is a coil needed there? Also, is it possible to replace the 4 tiny black bricks with a bigger coil?

i do have 2 cards not working RX 580 8 GB each, i got scammed twice for fixing it here in the Philippines, i contacted the person that i got from he said they were used for mining, now i just want to fix and use for gaming at least one of them, the first card the middle chip heat up when i place on the pc but black screen, the second card even the middle chip is cold, thats the only test i made so far

Hey Eli - What exactly made you think the GPU crystal was bad? Was it mostly the 1.8v phase having short to ground? I have a MSI 1070 with near identical PCB, that had Q37 mosfet blown, and also short to ground at that same inductor (L20), as well as short on 12v line and VRM... But the GPU dye gets warm when injecting ~1.2v @ 1.5amp (although did not feel any other component get warm). At least memory has good resistence (~107ohms). Is this 1070 crystal also a goner?

I have a few questions about a 1070 Strix, I may have unplugged it prior to letting discharge of voltage. Symptoms are cold Gpu but lights still functional. What is the most likely issue for cold gpu on these cards and power related failure to the die?

So I have this exact same card - I noticed that some SMD components were missing after I tried to use it and all I would get was a black screen. I can see whats missing but I do not have a schematic to find what the values are. Have you done a video card repair where you showed close ups of what you are checking and the spots you are checking and why. Just more explanation and close up. I have (not this card) 2 cards where one did work on and off and I tried to reflow and now nothing. The other one really is hot and I don't know if this is normal, so how and why to check some areas would be nice. Thanks for the videos.

Without a graphics card you won't be able to see anything in your monitor unless you have an integrated one in your processor. Those cards are a lot more powerful than integrated ones so for games/3d modeling etc. they will work alot better than an integrated one.

Hey Eli I have problem with Asus R9 280X when i turn on pc then after about 3sec the mem chips is too hot to touch and main chip is hot to but you can touch it and monitor says "No Signal" . Fans runs normal speed btw. Do you have any idea what to test or whats the problem? Thanks

@@TheHulludmehed Hey i had few problems with this.Check external power connectors to gpu if the are shorted (yellow shorted with black).Check with hand the vrms few of them can be hot and that can be the issue.Good luck

Hello! This is a very informative video, but I don't have that problem. Your friend from Frog - tech - tips told me to visit your channel because you could help me. I have an old motherboard, about 12 years, that is not working. It was working well (except the GPU missing one colour signal on dvi and a different colour signal on VGA so the colour was off, not sure if it has to do with this) but it stopped working seconds after last force shutdown. It turns on by itself when plugged into power. It shuts off immediately after being powered on. When I disconnect the CPU power cable, the motherboard normally turns on button press and shuts down when holding the button (but it of course doesn't give any signal). If I connect the power while it's on it makes a quick spark and shuts off. I'm guessing a short circuit...? I tried with another PSU. Also, the first PSU was from a PC that had similar problems. Maybe the PSU killed it? I would try to do a continuity test with a multimeter, but mine is fried. Even if it wasn't fried how do I test onboard components? Thanks in advance, hope you can resolve my problem and that I'm not bothering you. Greetings from Croatia.

Its a short 99% in one of the mosfets which are feeding cpu (they are around cpu under a cooling radiators) You can check them very easily with multimeter but without at least hot air station and new mosfet you wont fix it, but any kind of repair shop should easily fix it. Hello ! I got an rx 460 from gigabyte It was a nice card , working fine ,no overheating and now when a start the pc , the mobo want start , no starting beep . When i take out the vcard , the mobo is starting fine . I cheked the vcard and i found that the pci e power pins of the v card are in short . the fans of the card are working , the gpu is warming up a litle 30-40 degrees with the cooler down . Hi.. I have a question. Is more easy, difficult, or same as the card fails pre-post (doesn't power up, no video, whatever) than a fail that occur sometimes during intensive use/gaming? Like playing some minutes then then OFF (with no heat issues)? Something than fails for example when is stressed or using full power, but works good on power saving.

hello i have 3 AMD hd6990 one is shorted to ground second turn on without image and gpu is not hot 3rd turn on without image and gpu warm up how to fix them all any suggestion... for shorted one i inject voltage with no hot capacitor or chips the thing wich warm is cable used to inject current so i guess its shorted to pcb and not chip/capacitor issue 2 other i dont know i test the one wich not warm the mosfet have 2.8 volt and not 12 leave comment peace

hello, I have a problem with my msi armor gtx1070 oc 8gb. the card was not detected in windows and it prevents the computer from starting. the card was detected in safe mode as if it had no problem I was even able to flash it again but with each restart there is the same problem with the computer reboot reboot reboot. on the other hand the mosfet and vcor are very hot. can you give me any advice? thank you

I have one 1070 worked good two days then stopped output to HDMI. I connected a 750ti in second slot and device manager says both are working properly... But I can't game on my 1070 without it's output and can't install drivers on new is with 750 in slot too. I did a new is trying to troubleshoot and now I'm stuck. Not sure where to go now ☹️ Edit the pci slot works fine too. Any help would be appreciated and like others I would love to send it to you and will pay.

the crystal itself is not that important for the processor inside ... for sure it might be the crack get its way into the crystal and maybe through the transistors inside but my experience is that almost in any case it doesn`t matter at all ;)

Hi i need some Help. yesterday i updated the new Drivers on my GTX 1060 6 GB Gaming Strix card and it got black screen i cannot do anything please can you support to fix this. i Checked the Bios using TechPowerUp GPU-Z But after installed the latest drivers i got black screen and after restart the pc it freeze on boot screen. i try to uninstall the drivers using DDU v18.0.3.4 in Safe mode and install the drivers again. (457.09-desktop-win10-64bit-international-dch-whql) but still not working my GPU. i turn on my pc using iGPU then i Checked Bios using TechPowerUp GPU-Z but the bios version is unknow . sorry for my bad English. please Help.

@@elitech3339 Hmm there is 1.35V on memory phase and they are warm so its seems ok... and if i run windows with 2 cards in both pci-e slots it detects this 1060 in second slot... Windows even instaled drivers for gtx 1060 but it says code 43 in device manager (that means windows stopped device because of problems). If you had to quess what might be problem? bios? chip itself? You dont have to help me for free but i would really appreciate any directions :p I watched all your videos but all my measurments show that card is working...

Okay nevermind. I shorted one coil to some 8 pin ADPG chip and killed voltage section. I was stupid to use probes in tight case with not enoguht light. Well GPU is going to heaven now. RIP...
