Never got into the specs much back then... my friend helped me put a rig together with a GTX 260 in it. Had I known anything, I definitely would have wanted the 295.

The Gtx 260 was a great card back in the day. I'm just collecting stuff I couldn't afford back when I was younger now.

@@TechOMan Back in the day, sure. But realizing what I was missing out on at the time, in today's world... dammit. lol I still have my old tower but I have an expensive appetite if I were to ever max it out, collecting can be expensive in itself, after retail. Props to you.

In my opinion all of those dual GPUs are collectors items only. Seriously tryung to run modern games on them daily is not only a pain because they cant really handle it, but also risking overheating and destroying it. Getting one is also not a smart choice since you can get better DX11 and 12 cards for less money. Even if you want to build a computer for retro games it might be cheaper and more safe to SLI or Crossfire two regular cards because of the better cooling.
@TechOMan4 жыл бұрын
Yup, i just like the technology behind them. Wouldn't run one in a pc that i actually use.

Skyrim is DirectX 9 not 11. Unless you are talking about the Remastered version, so Skyrim should run on this. A good game for DirectX 10 GPUs is Battlefield 4. I have this GPU and it can play Battlefield 4 on medium at 1080p, high can't be used because it doesn't have enough VRAM.
@TechOMan6 жыл бұрын
It's the special edition. Should have mentioned that
@Manuel G >30fps is generally accepted as playable in nearly every title, some allow you to go even lower. If 45fps was very close to unplayable then the consoles would rarely be playable, yet to the millions that buy them, they're great. I remember being being able to play fine with 25fps average on Crysis if I had motion blur enabled which helped hide the low framerate.
@drachna3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDemocrab Absolutely, 30 fps is eminently playable imo. So long as there are no significant frame rate drops. This is coming from someone who games in 144hz.
@TechOMan3 жыл бұрын
Try playing csgo in 30 fps...
@TheDemocrab3 жыл бұрын
@@TechOMan Yeah, I used to play CSS around 30fps on my old PC. Obviously when I got a better pc and had more performance it was better, but it was hardly unplayable at 30 especially when you're used to it.

@@TechOMan CSGO is a game that benefits heavily from a high frame rate. Most games function perfectly well at 60 or 30fps.

Testing a 2009 GPU at 1080p makes no sense, since 1080p was the 4k of 2009. Testing old GPUs at the resolution most commonly used at their time would be a more accurate representation of how good they are.

What would anyone suggest in 2018 as an upgrade to this card? System is Asus P6T Deluxe, Intel i7 920, 6GB PC-12800. Its for my kids to play fortnite. I tried this card on medium setting @ 1680 x 1050 but was only getting like 19 FPS. and it didn't look nice.

@Celso Oliveira Is this a reply to me? I don't live in the United States! I am wearing British Army Uniform in my profile pic! I'm sure if I did live in USA I could get a decent computer. In fact I can get a decent PC in the UK as well, it's just I already had a reasonable spec'd PC and if I could upgrade to play Fortnite for £100 that was better value than spending £500+ to do the same thing. And cheaper than buying a games console; although in the end I bought a switch anyway.
