@@balintt01 Nope. That's just a bad cooling system. The TDP tells you how much heat is thrown into the air, no matter the gpu temperature. RX 470 is low TDP. Make sure you have a proper fan curve in MSI Afterburner.

They are indeed. Good old Fermi. Had a GTX 470 and I remember testing an overclock one Winter using Furmark, it got to around 105c and was soldiering on like a champ! 🤭😂😅 Kept me lovely in warm while playing games though 👍😜

My r9 290 can run over 90 degrees. :D. I remember it running so hot that it artifacts. It's Gigabyte card @stock everything. I had to undervolt it to run at under 90 degrees.

For a old fart like me it also shows how much the development has slowed down: 10 years before GTX 480 the best card around was Geforce 256 DDR. GTX 480 has 120x processing units and 24x VRAM. 10 years before Geforce 256 the idea of 3D accelerated card was ludicrous.

I found my old gtx 480 today and jammed it in. I was impressed with how well it did on even some modern games. Assuming it could even boot them of course. I forgot how loud it was. I booted up Valheim and it sounded like a jet engine. I turned it off. I don't wanna start a fire.

For people like me Above 1050 is considered mid end Low end is like GT730 and it's siblings. Also R5 series. 1030, 550, 950 and 750Ti is considered upper low end. Even among of my friends. My 550 is like top tier. They gaming on Integrated graphics.

RX 550 is like a 1030, the 1050 is 2x the performance. The 950 is like 5% slower than the 1050. 750ti is 20% faster than the 1030 and 550.

it helps a tons that it's in a modern system, it's not rly the same as playing on a system it would have been in those days, as well as a much more efficient PSU/CPU/RAM, there's nothing wrong with using this card in that setting as a stop gap until you replace a busted one, altho I'd reach for the r9 380/390 first for that extra VRAM 1.5 vs 4gb is a big jump.

The 2ng gen i7s had some crazy overclocking that were out around this time. A 2600k or 2700k with a decent overclock will still just about be powerful enough today to have a surprisingly close experience with the same card in most games - even some newer ones. Some of course will be too far, but it would surprise you how much they can do even with the older RAM on top.

its double the price of the GTX 480. . . but yea, if you got the extra money I would def go with the r9 280/380/390. . .Much stronger GPU. My oldest son is still rocking one, the drivers are kinda garbage and holds it back a bit but for standard 1080p on the style of games he plays it works like a charm! :)

I had one one back in the day, impressive, but like a plane taking off when it was pushed, it's max operating temp was 105C and on stress tests mine would reach the early 90s. Even playing WOW it would get so hot that I'd cap the framerate to 30 FPS so it wasn't so noisy.

The one I have has 2 big fans so it stays pretty cool 🤗💖💯 I like the fact that the 480 supports DirectX 12 I use a 3rd generation i5 3470 / 3.2 ghz processor Hardly any bottleneck with these two paired together 0.7 percent at 1080p not bad it leaves a little bit of wiggle room for the processor to do other things 🤗 besides 0.7% bottleneck is nothing to worry about in my opinion it's perfect and in my opinion the 480 is better than the 580 when the 580 first came out it had issues so I decided not to buy it and bought the 480 instead and I don't regret it 😁💖💯💯 I have tons of PCS this is one of my low end gaming PCs and I love it sorry I called it low end but compared to my other PCS it's low end to me but overall the 480 is a great and awesome gaming card 👏👏👏👏👏
