國際人道法 International Humanitarian Law

國際人道法是國際法的其中一個分支，主要是應用於武裝衝突時的法律條文。所以又稱為戰爭法或武裝衝突法。 其目的是盡可能減少武裝衝突帶來的後果，保護沒有參與衝突的平民，及已退出 衝突的傷兵、戰俘。 同時，亦是國際紅十字與紅新月運動和其他人道救援組織在武裝衝突時，開展人道救援工作的法律基礎。 百多年來，國際人道法適應時勢而更新，令戰俘、傷兵、平民和醫護及人道救援組織等，得到人道的待遇和救援，維護人的生命與尊嚴。
International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is part of public international law that consists of rules in times of armed conflict.
IHL is also known as ‘'the law of war'’ or ‘'the law of armed conflict'’. Its purpose is to limit the effects of armed conflict and to protect persons who are not, or no longer, taking part in hostilities, such as the wounded, prisoners of war and civilians. Meanwhile, it is also the legal basis for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and other humanitarian relief organizations to carry out humanitarian relief in times of armed conflict.
